White Owl Lacquers – ‘Heightened Emotions’ Valentine Collection 2013
I confess that not only do I not watch The Vampire Diaries, I don’t even have a working knowledge of the show or its characters – other than the fact that it revolves around vampires & their relationships, but Mara (Mara in Polishland), the creator behind White Owl Lacquers, is a fan and has drawn her inspiration from this drama to bring us her 2nd release, the ‘Heightened Emotions’ Valentine Collection.
White Owl Lacquers ‘Heightened Emotions’ Valentine Collection 2013
Never Let Me Go – (layered over CHANEL #545 Attraction, reviewed here) a milky white jelly-like base with pink and red round glitter, as well as scattered square prismatic glitter pieces. As there was some fishing/placement needed for application, I suggest storing this bottle upside down to keep the heavier glitter suspended closer to the surface & ready for use. Apart from that, it was easy to work with nonetheless, and I really love the dreamy effect of the entire look. Coats applied: 2, plus top coat

A Little Danger – (layered over CHANEL #549 Distraction, reviewed here) a transparent base filled with red and pink round glitter, as well as gold square & hexagonal glitter. There is a relatively easy dispersal of glitter per brush stroke with no extra placement required, in a base that’s neither too thick nor too thin to work with. A wonderful layering polish, I decided to apply it over a more contrasting shade, in order to help the glitter combo really stand out. BONUS: a super glossy natural finish. Coats applied: 2, no top coat

Come To Me – *Please note that while my bottle shows a milky light blue base, I was informed by Mara that this is due to staining caused by the blue glitter and as such, all previous batches of this shade are now being replaced. Personally, I love the way it looks, so my description will be based on my bottle as is.
A softly diffused sky blue base filled with round pink and round matte royal blue glitter, as well as smaller hexagonal glitter in ultra blue, and scattered small square light blue pieces throughout. A versatile hue that can be either worn alone, layered over a solid hue, or even “sandwiched” between other jelly shades, I absolutely love how this looks on its own! Coats applied: 3 (thin), plus top coat.

Final thoughts: I love seeing the creative process come to life, and having a connection to the talent behind these varnishes, adds an extra-special touch. What’s great is that even though this trio of lacquers are all rather delicate-looking, they can also be mixed & matched with a wide variety of other shades, while the glitter combos used for each is visually interesting & unique.
The ‘Heightened Emotions’ Valentine Collection is available now through White Owl Lacquers where you can purchase the individual bottles for US $9.00, the entire collection (full size) for US $27.00 or the mini trio for US $13.50

These are sweet! I’m loving the first and the last. Makes me want to try my Revlon Whimsical finally
They are pretty sweet, aren’t they?! And what are you waiting for with Whimsical, woman? GO WEAR IT!!!
Thank you Eugenia for such lovely review and of course your swatches to die for!!!!!! <3
Awwww……thank YOU Mara, for creating them and trusting me to show them properly! Happy to hear you enjoyed my review! xx
Wow, they look amazing! I’m not seeing a huge correlation between the shades and the theme, but the concept is brilliant. And the execution – ZOMG. That last bluish one is so cute.
Thanks, Liz! And to think that ‘Come to Me’ isn’t eve supposed to have a light blue base — that’s what I love about it the most!
While the glitter polishes are pretty… I’m taken away by Distraction! That’s gorgeous. I’m not quite sure I’m ready to drop that much money on nail polish though – any suggestions on a similar (cheaper) color?
When I originally swatched Distraction, I thought that I may have had something similar already, but when I went through my collection (at that time), it was proven to me yet again, about how original CHANEL shades truly are. Offhand, there may now be a couple of shades that lean towards the same family – if I come across anything, I’ll be sure to update you!
I actually discovered a spend your points event at Murale last night so I caved and bought my very first Chanel polish!! I went with Orange Fizz. I actually like the less shimmer and more orange color in your swatch comparison. So far, I love it!
YAY for points events & scoring “free” beauty products! I love Orange Fizz…it’s not too orange so it can be basically worn all year round, but it looks killer with a light tan! Enjoy!
haha, I should have said “bought” my first Chanel polish!
I also picked up the Deborah Lippmann Ridge Filling Base Coat, and not only do my nails look smoother, it actually helps with coverage since it’s a creamy color. Thought you’d like to know!
Wow…that does sound amazing! Even though I’ve never really had any issues with ridges, I don’t mind making my nail beds look even smoother, so I’ll definitely look into this product – thanks for the heads up!
They’re all lovely, but I think my favorite is A Little Danger
So pretty, isn’t it? And perfect to be layered over anything you wish!
I never would have guessed that this collection was inspired by TVD. I watch the show religiously & love it.
I feel it has (or rather had) so much more going on then just a goofy show about vampires & werewolves. Also, looking at Ian Somerhalder doesn’t hurt too much either.
I like Come to Me the most. And I too like the blue tint. I will have to check out other White Owl Lacquers. Great swatches Eugenia!
Thanks, Katelyn! Unfortunately, I can’t say anything about either the show or its actors, as I have never watched it – but anything with both vampires AND werewolves, is pretty good in my book!
I am really loving all the opaque polishes with glitter I’m seeing lately! Come To Me reminds me a little of Nails Inc. Sweets Way just more subtle.
I had a similar thought too and even though the base wasn’t meant to be a pale blue, I’m really loving its tone just as it is!
I love love love!!!!!!!!!!
Yay! & Gracias!!! xx
