Make Up For Ever – HD Pressed Powder
MAKE UP FOR EVER recently launched HD Pressed Powder, a purse & travel-friendly version of their best-selling Microfinish Loose Powder, aimed at having you appear flawlessly finished and camera-ready, while providing a slightly mattified and pore-minimizing look as well as a soft-focus effect to the skin.
Talk-free, HD Pressed Powder (CAN $41.00) has silica, vinyl crosspolymers, as well as Micro & Spherical Powders for a lightweight and smooth finish, yet which still gives a diffused coverage and wears comfortably all day long without oxidizing on the skin. Available in one universal shade, this white powder applies completely translucently and is said to merge with all skin tones – from the lightest to the darkest – without any chalky residue.
Having been testing this powder for a few weeks now, I have to say that it has become an indispensable step in my makeup routine, especially when I want my skin to look its flawless best. There are 2 ways that I’ve applied HD Pressed Powder; lightly dusted across my cheeks, bridge of nose, chin & planes of the forehead using a large domed powder brush (such as the CHANEL #1 Powder Brush) and over foundation/blush, which yields the lightest finishing touch, although it blurs makeup somewhat this way. The other method is my preferred way, and that is applied over foundation primed skin using a kabuki or other densely-packed face brush, and buffing it slightly in for a completely poreless finish. Lasting powder was a little difficult to properly judge, but I’d say I got a good 8 hours before I needed any touch ups – which are easy to do, as this is a slim enough compact to fit most makeup bags.
As with other finishing powders of this nature, trying to properly photograph a swatch on the skin was an exercise in futility (how do you take a shot of something invisible, I ask you?), but I can assure you that the effect is there. To give you an idea of the effect HD Pressed Powder gives, it’s like your skin appears air-brushed when this is applied, but done in a subtle and almost natural way.
Ingredients: Synthetic Fluorphlogopite,Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Silica, Dimethicone, Zinc Stearate, Phenyl Trimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Isoceteth-10, Caprylyl Glycol, Nylon-12, Aqua (Water), Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate
The beauty of HD Pressed Powder is many-sided, starting with the fact that you can take it along for any touch-ups on the go. Bearing absolutely no shimmer, able to match a vast spectrum of tones, and being so incredibly finely-milled as to literally disappear onto your skin’s surface, makes this a must-have in your beauty routine – unless flawless skin isn’t your thing. Right.
