Clarins Lip Balm Crayon opener

Clarins has recently released their Lip Balm Crayon (CAN $21.00), a tinted lip balm available in 6 shades that comes in a twist up chubby stick format. Filled with nourishing ingredients such as mango, apricot, and shea butters, these are meant to provide long-lasting hydration to your lips, along with hints of colour.

01 My Pink Lip Balm Crayon Colour & Comfort (CAN $21.00) – Housed in a twist up and retractible format, 01 My Pink (the lightest of the 6 available) goes on clear, but within moments begins to change, as it adapts to the ph levels of your lips. Bearing a warm vanilla fragrance which becomes relatively unnoticeable upon application, the feel of this balm is buttery and smooth upon the lips, totally non-sticky. The hydrating feel is indeed long-lasting – from the second it’s applied, to long after it has worn off – leaving lips feeling completely nourished.

The shade I was sent to test, 01 My Pink, turned out to be a complete surprise; to begin with, I wasn’t aware of its colour changing properties as I hadn’t received any press details with it. Thinking it to be an average clear balm, I only noticed the change upon my lips when I happened to pass a mirror – and that stopped me in my tracks; 2 hours later (and even after drinking and eating), not only was the tint still present, but actually seemed to have intensified somewhat. What sorcery was this?! Several hours after that, the shine factor had long gone, but even after wiping, colour STILL remained on my lips, along with a continued hydrated feel. It may be just my imagination, but I swear that there’s a slight plumping effect too, without any nasty tingling sensation.

There’s nothing I hate more than dry, flaky lips and to that end, I usually have about 4 lip balms in my makeup bag at any given time. As I have had limited success in adquate hydration with drugstore brands, I have begun experimenting with higher-priced/department store options and I can honestly say that Clarins is at the top of my list (one particular fave, is the HydraQuench Moisture Replenshing Lip Balm, made famous by Lupita Nyong’o at this year’s Academy Awards presentation – and which promptly sold out at counters & online, as a direct result). This new Lip Balm Crayon now has a permanent spot in my bag as well, and the fact that it’s in such an easy format to use is just the icing on the cake. Highly recommend (and BONUS: so yummy smelling too!)

  1. Pretty on you! I have the one that’s called Creamy Pink and I like it as well! These feel so nice on the lips! I think these colour changing lip balms have become better in recent times and work quite well!

  2. Adi says:

Is the effect similar to the Dior Lip Glow ?

    • Eugenia says:

I haven’t tried the Dior Lip Glow, so I couldn’t say, but off the top of my head, I’d have to say that there probably are similarities – both work with your skin’s natural ph levels to reveal a personalized colour.

  3. Katelyn says:

I love these types of balms! I had a color changing gloss when I was younger & it’s so perfect for fairer skin tones. Just a flush of color, not too much pigment. Beautiful!

What are your thoughts, beautiful?
