ARTDECO | Sun Dance Bronzing Glow Blusher (LE), Jungle Fever Bronzing Collection

ARTDECO Bronzing Glow Blusher opener

ARTDECO is a brand that’s relatively new to me, but one I’m quickly becoming quite impressed with. Take for example this Sun Dance Bronzing Glow Blusher (LE) from the Jungle Fever Bronzing Collection, and the incredible detail it is infused with – from the beautiful artwork on the compact cover to the product itself, this gorgeous “art-masquerading-as-makeup” piece meets all the criteria for a blush/bronzer fiend like myself.

PS: Stay tuned for a few more pieces from this brand, that I’ll be featuring in upcoming posts.

Launched in 1985 in Germany and having quickly become one of that country’s top cosmetics lines, ARTDECO aims to bring only the highest quality products – and all the latest trends – to the consumer, at totally affordable prices. Still relatively new to North America (currently available through select Shopper’s Drug Mart/Pharmaprix store across Canada), this brand is on its way to achieving global status, as well as having been ranked in the top 100 largest beauty companies by the WWD Beauty Report, a leading cosmetics trade journal.

Part of the Tribal Sunset Collection originally launched last year, ARTDECO brought Sun Dance Bronzing Glow Blusher back due to popular demand and incorporated it into this year’s Jungle Fever Bronzing Collection. It’s still limited edition, however … giving you fair warning.

ARTDECO Bronzing Glow Blusher

Bronzing Glow Blusher, limited edition (CAN $32.00) – The three shades of the Sun Dance Bronzing Glow Blusher (limited edition), are comprised of a soft tan, a warm peach, and a cooler-toned rosewood, all in a raised and somewhat Aztec-looking motif (can we just take a moment to admire this design?). There’s a touch of golden pearl mixed in with the powder which gives a gorgeous sun-kissed luminosity to the skin, in particular when the 3 shades are combined and applied – as they are meant to (trying to wear each hue individually would be a lesson in futility, but can be done if you use a narrow headed brush, especially for the larger blush-coloured portions). I did experience was some powdery kickback when I swirled by brush across the pan – nothing that can’t be solved by first tapping off any excess. Depending on how much of one particular shade your brush picks up, the common denominator is the buttery smooth application, easy blending ability, and drop-dead stunning glow that Sun Dance provides to the skin. Lasting power is quite impressive as well, going easily past the 10-hour mark with no significant fading.

Free from all parabens, mineral oil, fragrance and lanolin.

If you happen to chance upon the Sun Dance Bronzing Glow Blusher, my advice is to jump all over it – this is a spectacular product. I love how this combines the key elements of a luxury brand (quality, complex detailing, and superb packaging) but without the hefty price tag – always a plus. The only downside, is that as yet this range is not readily available at all Canadian outlets of Shopper’s Drug Mart/Pharmprix stores (the current exclusive Canadian retailer), but I’m hoping that will change as the brand’s popularity rises.  The final summation: Sun Dance is like wearing a beautiful Summery glow, from a product that you’ll want to take out in public if only to see the admiring (and covetous) looks it will receive, consider me a new devotee of ARTDECO.

  1. I have this at home and It’s so perrdy! I totally agree about how it’s like a piece of art. I still have this piece from a MAC collection that I won’t touch because it’s too neat looking. That is basically when I realized I must have a serious problem haha

  2. I never tried Art Deco and I don’t think I have it anywhere near me where I reside. That blush looks gorgeous and reminds me of rainbow sherbet!

What a great way to describe it – and while I’ve never had rainbow sherbet, now I want some! If you ever do come across this brand, it’s worth your while to check it out — maybe an online etailer?

  3. I’ve never given Art Deco products a try even though they are readily available to me here in Germany. I was always a little unsure and at the price point I always passed them by thinking I would just pick something up from MAC instead. This looks lovely though and you have sparked my interest. Shortly before I left Canada back in 2009 Shoppers had started incorporating their higher end beauty sections in stores so it’s awesome to see that they are starting to carry more European brands. I’ve heard they also carry Bourjois products (which I had previously only seen on trips to the UK).

    • Eugenia says:

Shopper’s actually does carry Bourgois, you’re right! And lucky you that has easy access to the ARTDECO brand – now that I’ve been introduced to a few products, I’d love to be able to browse their entire range!
