One of the latest releases from Burberry is their new Liquid Lip Velvet (CAN$38.00), and let the record show that my lips have never been happier to wear a liquid lip product. Available in 14 luscious shades that range from pale nude all the way to deep vampy, they have been created with the Burberry aesthetic: classically refined but with a naughty edge.
Housed in a frosted glass tube with the iconic Burberry plaid pattern on the cap, the applicator is of the flocked doefoot type and very easy to use. All shades are said to provide good coverage from the first swipe; that said, I found that the deeper shades were quite opaque from the get-go, although the lighter hues needed at least two swipes for total opacity. Relatively unscented, the texture here is exactly as the name implies: velvety smooth and with a buttery feel upon the lips — so very comfortable throughout the wearing, in fact. None of the shades I tested dried down completely so expect some transfer, although all are incredibly long-lasting and leave a stain behind which can be given new life with a slick of balm or clear gloss on top.

- N°17 Dark Rosewood – intense rosewood, plummy undertones

- N°37 Military Red – classic red (good mix of both cool & warm tones)
- N°49 Bright Plum – deep plum, violet undertones
If like me, you adore the ease of liquid lipsticks and want to rock a matte lip badly, but can’t deal with their inevitable moisture-sucking properties, then you absolutely must try Burberry’s Liquid Lip Velvets. For starters, the coverage — at least on the ones I’ve tried — is really amazing, with the exception of Peach which was the only shade that make me work for it. Then there’s how comfortable they all are to wear; not once did my lips feel parched. Finally, there’s option B: wearing any of the shades blotted down for that stained effect which looks great as is, or made even more plush with balm/gloss on top. Final verdict: totally worth checking out. #AndNowIWantThemAll
