CHANEL · Quintessence & Platine Bronze, Vision d’Asie Spring Summer 2019 Collection

Several weeks ago I showed you CHANEL’s Spring/Summer 2019 launches — that is, all but the two pieces starring in today’s post. This 9-shadow palette is only the second in this format that the brand has ever created, and this beauty holds an interesting & unexpected mix of hues, while the accompanying cream shade has quickly risen through the ranks to be the one I currently reach for … over & over again.

Givenchy · Lunar New Year 2019 Collection

To celebrate the Lunar New Year 2019 (Year of the Pig), Givenchy has reworked the casings of two of its star products, decking them out in a flower motif symbolic of Asia’s Spring festival: red for joy, gold for prosperity, and flowers for luck. Clarins · Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil

Clarins has been infusing their products with the benefits of botanicals for over 60 years now, so it should come as no surprise that they would create a lip product that helps lips feel as good as they look. Embarking on a photographic journey through Japan and South Korea, Lucia Pica — the brand’s head of makeup — was inspired by the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi: the art of seeing preciousness in imperfection, thereby elevating the mundane into something so much more. In the end, it’s about the interplay between shadow & light along with classic tones paired up against unexpected pops of colour … and it all just totally works.

L’Occitane en Provence · Holiday 2018

In yesterday’s post I mentioned that I’m not a fan of gift sets; I should clarify and state that the one exception to that is anything from L’Occitane, and this year’s Holiday 2018 offerings are once again scoring high points for being 100% amazing. To sweeten things further, L’Occitane has collaborated with fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac — known for vivid colour and unexpected pieces (such as a coat of teddy bears worn by Madonna, no less) — to create packaging designs that are eye-catching and fun, needing nothing more than a gift tag to finish things off. And just like that, you can knock a few more names off that list.
