Since its integration into mainstream consciousness, sunscreen has come a long way; no longer relegated solely to die-hard sun worshippers, there’s not a soul out there who isn’t aware of the risk your skin takes on when left unprotected from the sun’s powerful rays. With a myriad of options available – scented, unscented, lotion, gel, oil, spray and even wipes – there’s also no reason to NOT find a version that suits your skin type and life style, and when that sunscreen comes from a company such as RoC®, a pioneering giant in the skin care and antiageing industry, you just know that you’ll be not only well-protected, but on to a good thing as well.

I had the perfect opportunity to put the Soleil Protexion+ Invisible Touche SPF 30 to the test recently, as it was my sunscreen of choice that I packed with me for my holiday. From the very first spritz, I was transported to some exotic locale – I didn’t even think about sun protection (bad, bad, beauty blogger), until several hours later when I had left the beach and noticed … nothing. As in: no burn. I did see a great tan forming, however!

Soleil Protexion+ Invisible Touch SPF 30 (CAD $26.00/114 g) – a lightweight sheer sunscreen with SPF 30 and broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection in an aerosol format. Paraben-free, the formula is also enriched with Vitamins A, C and E to help the skin’s natural defense system.

The cylindrical shape of the bottle is narrow enough to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand, while the sprayer nozzle is of a large enough size to provide excellent coverage, quickly & evenly. There is an initial cooling sensation felt upon the skin as the mist-like spray hits you, and the fragrance is quite pleasant and fresh, although neither the cooling sensation nor the scent linger for long – a good thing for those of a more aroma-sensitive type nature. The spray itself is non-sticky and dries almost immediately, sinking into the skin invisibly and leaving behind a softly hydrated feel.

One of the advantages of using the RoC® Soleil Protexion+ Invisible Touch SPF 30 sunscreen, is not only how quickly it gets the job done, but it makes getting to those hard-to-reach areas, a simple matter (no contortionist abilities required), although the downside is that being a spray, it obviously holds less product than a conventional lotion does. Nevertheless, I found that by spraying oneself indoors, as opposed to say… on a windy beach (you’d think this would be a given, right? And yet … the people I saw spraying themselves on the beach, while the wind carried it all away …), goes a long way to extending the longevity of this spray. TIP: make sure to spray the product into your palms, followed by then quickly applying to your face, in order to avoid any potential stinging in the eye area.

On a final note, I must state that the colour/tan I achieved using this spray, was a honey golden hue, very luxurious and simply oozing that “I-just-spent-the-summer-on-the-beaches-of-St-Tropez” kind of glow. Now, who wouldn’t want that?

Last word: Your skin is not only your body’s largest organ, but its first defense against everything the environment may throw at it, so you owe it to yourself to protect it as best you can. While I wish that this sunscreen was less price-y, or at least held more product, I cannot deny how well it worked and how nourished my skin felt as well. In order to maximize the contents, I opted to use this strictly on my face, and in this manner, it helped to make it last the entire length of my vacation. Another plus was the cooling effect – definitely appreciated when faced with melt-inducing temperatures (God – I miss that)! Summer is still going strong, so protect yourselves my beauties – as I will continue doing with my RoC® Soleil Protexion+ Invisible Touch SPF 30 (what a mouthful!)

Usually, a mega syringe within the proximity of my face would have me running in fear, but this oversized beauty version is of the non-puncturing variety; introducing RoC® Instant Deep Wrinkle Filler, a product with claims of making those pesky “life lines” disappear at the press of a dispenser. According to the company:

After my positive with the RoC® Sublime Energy E-PULSE™ night duo (reviewed here), I couldn’t wait to test this one out as well and this time, I was on guard to see actual “instant” results, as the name of the product suggests. Once again, I was well … astounded, at the results.

RoC® Instant Deep Wrinkle Filler – (CAD $49.00 10 ml) combines 3 effective wrinkle-fighting ingredients, Hyaluronic Acid, Filling Complex, and Soft Focus, in a convenient syringe dispenser format, with the goal of seemingly “erasing” deep wrinkles – lines and grooves, such as those found around the eyes (crow’s feet), the nasolabial (on either side of the nose & towards the mouth), and on the forehead. Not sure what to expect, I began by applying this cream to the fine lines on one side of my forehead; there’s a dry/slippery feel to this product (most likely due to the silicon in the formula) that helps it glide feather-light along the skin. Immediately, you notice a difference: where the cream was applied, the skin appeared softly diffused, almost blurred – AND THE LINES WERE GONE! Ok, maybe they weren’t really gone, but I needed to get up close & personal with my mirror to see them. Acting as basically a repair putty for the skin (like the type you’d apply to a hole in the wall before painting), I found that the RoC® Instant Deep Wrinkle Filler not only seemed to fill lines and diffuse the appearance of my skin, but worked beautifully under foundation, helping it stay on the surface of my face, as opposed to settling into said fine lines.

Final thoughts: Another hit product from a brand that has been flying under the beauty radar, that’s for sure! As a beauty blogger, my primary interest lies with cosmetics and nail polish, but one must never forget that you first need a good base (your skin) to work with, to help your makeup stand out. Age is not the only factor that would encourage a person to look towards using the RoC® Instant Deep Wrinkle Filler; genetics, diet, health, & environmental stressors also play a big role in determining how your skin appears, so help from any quarter, is always appreciated in my book. RoC® Sublime Energy E-PULSE Concentrate – (30 ml) I was not prepared for the sight of a grey cream – not something I ever expected in a skin care product, but being the willing test subject that I am, I happily applied it over my face and neck. The first thing I noticed (ok, the second thing after the colour), was the feel; slightly dry yet slippery, almost silicone-like and it literally glided effortlessly along my skin. At this point, I couldn’t stop touching my face and even with the very first application, my skin looked AMAZING. Seriously, inexplicably AMAZING. Smooth, even toned, soft – as though I had a camera filter on my eyes and was seeing a more youthful version of me. Sounds crazy, I know. I almost didn’t want to apply the Activating Moisturiser, so as to not disturb this image!

RoC® Sublime Energy Activating Moisturiser – (30 ml) is a white cream of medium consistency, and while it does not have the same feel as the E-PULSE Concentrate, it still applies easily over the skin and absorbs quite well, with absolutely no greasy after-feel. It’s at this point that the activation of the 2 properties is supposed to commence, and while a part of me hoped I wouldn’t start feeling zapped, I did expect a tingling, no matter how fleeting, but the claim is pretty accurate: imperceptible. Maybe someone more sensitive than me will feel it, but I’m happy to let this duo do its thing without my participation, thank you! I can say that my face literally looked like it was lit from within & smoothly radiant, and the pleasant scent induced by the combination of both creams, is another bonus. And this, with just the first application? Ummm, yeah … I don’t need any more convincing.

Final thoughts: The biggest hurdle that skin care companies face, is the consumer’s impatience; we all want immediate results, but as we’ve been told countless times, most products take several weeks of consistent use, before any changes may be seen upon the skin.
