CHANEL · La Fleur et L’Eau Collection + new Le Blanc for 2020

A new collection created to celebrate spring’s “awakening“, CHANEL has released La Fleur et L’Eau — with all pieces as beautiful to look at, as they are to wear. I’ve also included Rosy Light Drops, the latest addition to the Le Blanc family … mainly because everything just works so beautifully together. I love beauty synergy, don’t you?

Le Blanc Rosy Light Drops* (CAN $68.00) | In a nutshell, this is a 3-in-one product meant to add radiance to the face. Worn alone on bare skin, it serves to add an overall rosy glow. Mixed in with foundation, it provides a subtle radiance, and finally it can also be patted on over foundation and along the high points of the face for touches of natural-looking highlight. The formula contains radiance-boosting pigments as well as a delicate rose fragrance, but which appears to dissipate quickly after application.

356 Au Fil Des Fleurs, limited edition (CAN $70.00) | Let’s begin with the obvious: the jaw-droppingly beautiful raised camellia design of each hue … le sigh. I kid you not, it was almost painful putting a brush to these shades — but as I refuse to let something this gorgeous sit and not be worn, I definitely dove in. The rosy theme is perfectly represented by a soft pink with shimmer (top left), icy white with prismatic shimmer (top right), plum lavender with shimmer (bottom right), and vivid candy pink satin (bottom left). The texture is creamy and easy to blend out, displaying hardly any fall down during application. I find they look their best when worn as more of a wash of colour (think: watercolour effect), but you can also amp them up by laying them on with a dampened brush. Staying power when applied over primer is excellent, staying true without creasing or fading.

Gloss Lumière Miroir d’Eau, limited edition (CAN $42.00) | Created to be used on either eyes, face, or lips, this is a transparent gloss with a lavender/rose undertone and filled with ultra fine iridescent shimmer. The texture is tacky but not sticky — although bear in mind that it does not fully dry down. As my lids tend to get oily, I probably won’t be wearing this along my eyes all that much, but I also don’t mind a bit of creasing & a deconstructed effect, so I’m not ruling that out. Along the lips it works well as a gloss and even provides a balm-like feel. My favourite way to wear this at the moment is definitely patted along the cheekbones for a “glass-skin” highlight and I can also see this along the collar bones and/or shins come the summertime when I finally get a chance to shed all these wintery layers.

Rouge Coco Flash (CAN $46.00) | Since the formula was revamped last year, I find myself reaching for these more than either lipstick or gloss. The texture is buttery smooth and while not meant to be heavily opaque, both shades of this collection have an excellent colour-payoff. Of course their emollient nature means you’ll certainly have to reapply, but I’m totally ok with that.

  • 112 Eau de Rose* – delicate soft rose with fine pearly shimmer
  • 114 Ondée* – coral pink

Le Vernis (CAN $33.00/each) | The two shades released with this collection couldn’t be more spring-like if they tried; delicate and dainty, they also both happen to be utterly wearable and with formulations that are self-levelling, fully opaque by the second coat, and coming to a naturally glossy finish.

Both swatches are with 2 coats of polish, no top coat

741 Fleur de Pêcher* – salmon pink with ultra fine pearly shimmer

743 Pétale* – muted tea rose crème

Naturally, you guys all know that my heart belongs to CHANEL — but that doesn’t mean I’m not picky; thankfully all the pieces shown here are excellent performers and I’m actually really loving the ladylike vibe of this collection. For the record, some items (the eyeshadow quad and the gloss) are limited edition and have sold out quickly, but you might still be able to track either down … like I did, and there are no regrets.
