Ciaté · Glitter Storm Eyeshadow Palette

In time for the holiday season, Ciaté London has recently released the Glitter Storm Eyeshadow Palette, and I don’t know about you, but I’m a total sucker for anything with a snow globe effect. It doesn’t hurt that the nine hues of this palette are also sitting firmly in my wheelhouse, or that they wear so well either.

Glitter Storm Eyeshadow Palette, limited edition (CAN $50.00) | When this palette arrived, I admittedly spent more time watching the cascade of glitter on the lid than playing with the actual hues. Can you blame me? Gimmicky effect aside, I also did my fair share of ooh-ing & ahh-ing upon opening it up: the shades are seriously, majorly gorgeous. Leaning warm, I feel that all the colours can also be made to work on someone with a cooler complexion; it all comes down to application (blend, blend, blend, diffuse) and what you pair them with. Application-wise, each displays excellent pigmentation and is easily blended, although the top three glittery hues will have spread unless you apply them with a dampened brush (tip: spray your brush with a setting spray, this way the glitter will stay put without migration). Staying power over primer is great too, with minimal fading shown at the end of the day.

  • Firestorm – rose glitter
  • Strike – purple silver glitter
  • Pandora – pink champagne glitter

  • Comet – dusky rose matte
  • Solar – cranberry shimmer
  • Stargazer – eggplant matte

  • Whirlwind – soft cream matte
  • Interstellar – deep bronze shimmer
  • Jupiter – deep brown satin

The holiday period also means the inevitable beauty bombardment, and while I’m not exactly a fan of themed sets or items created to obviously cash in on the season, I still like to keep an open mind. That’s what makes this little palette interesting: it’s fun & festive, priced quite generously, and boasts interesting & totally wearable colours that all perform great. The question now is: do you get it for yourself, or gift it away? Answer: both!
