Dior · Rouge Dior Ultra Care Lipstick & Ultra Care Liquid Lipstick

The newest launches from Dior are definitely show-stoppers. Housed in vivid red packaging, they not only look stunning but perform equally well … if not better. I mean, lipstick + care — what’s not to love about that?

Rouge Dior Ultra Care Lipstick (CAN $49.00/each) | Available in 10 shades, these come in similar red cases to the Ultra Rouge range launched last year (reviewed here), but you can consider these more as lipstick PLUS. Infused with Camelina Flower Oil for mega hydration and a Jojoba derivative for added nourishment, they are said to deliver high-impact long wearing colour with an utterly weightless feel. Ummm, they actually do. The ‘CD’ core is where the balmy properties of this lipstick reside, but it also imparts a subtle pearly sheen to the finish. Speaking of which, they are described as matte but as seen in the swatches below, they come to more of a satin/velour finish that doesn’t fully set like traditional mattes do, but is long-lasting just the same.

Rouge Dior Ultra Care Liquid Lipstick (CAN $49.00/each) | Available in a wider array of colours and 2 finishes (matte and satin), these are liquid lipsticks that are said to deliver saturated colour with total comfort throughout wear. Inspired by M. Dior’s flower garden, the formula includes Camelina Oil for hydration, Almond Oil for its soothing properties, and Shea Butter for ultra nourishment & moisture. I can certainly vouch for the comfort part, as these may very well be the most comfortable liquid lipsticks I’ve ever worn. With more pigment than the brand’s Lip Tattoo formula, these come with a flocked and bevelled spade-shaped applicator that easily picks up enough product to deliver full coverage per swipe. The ‘satin’ finish may be a bit of a misnomer, considering it has glitter bits in it and thus gives off more of a light metallic effect, but note that the glitter is smooth-laying and serves to add an extra dimension of shine.

When it comes to lipstick, you could say that the beauty world is certainly quite populated, so what would make these stand out? Well, apart from the obvious aesthetic appeal (I am obsessed with red lacquer), both the Ultra Care Lipsticks and Ultra Care Liquid Lipsticks deliver on what I look for the most: comfort. The easy way they apply and the colour saturation levels only sweeten the deal further. Plus, they look damn good on a vanity table.
