Guerlain · Highlighter Face Highlighting Powder

I confess to having an absolute weakness for highlighters — blame it on my inner magpie & love of all things shiny. This latest from Guerlain is definitely one that has quickly risen to the coveted rank of “faves” on my rotation, but don’t take my word for it; I’ll just let my swatches do the convincing.

Highlighter Face Highlighting Powder (CAN $62.00) | Interestingly enough, this highlighter comes with a screw-off cap, as opposed to one that flips open — although I personally wish it was the latter, as I find that more convenient. The marbled finish of the powder is baked and sports 2 shades: soft bronze & rose gold that when swirled together, create a stunning sun-kissed hue. I feel that those with fair complexions can wear this as a form of glowy bronzer, while medium-deeper skin tones will achieve more of a warm highlighter effect. It bears a similar violet fragrance to that of the brand’s iconic Météorites, but it’s a scent that dissipates quickly once applied. Regarding application, the final effect is absolutely sublime, laying down seamlessly and providing a truly gorgeous radiance upon the skin. As seen in the swatches below, you can go in with a light wash or layer it up for mega-wattage — and it even looks amazing along the eyes (which is a great way of tying your bronzer & eye look together). Staying power, when applied over primer/foundation is excellent as well, staying true without displaying any oxidation.

There are so many highlighter options available and I personally own quite a few in a variety of finishes & colours; that said, powder versions are still easier to work with and Guerlain is definitely a brand that has that ‘second-skin‘ finish locked down when it comes to face powders. Also, how stinking cute is this baby? So go ahead & treat yourself or barring that, add it to your Christmas wish list.
