Admit it: this is absolutely adorable, am I right? With shades curated by makeup master Lisa Eldridge (one of my idols, by the way) Lancôme has added to the Monsieur Big range with a palette that may appear more Valentine’s Day appropriate, but which definitely hits all the right notes with me, colour-wise. As the song says, all you need is love …
Monsieur Big Heart Palette 12 Shades of Love, limited edition (CAN $65.00) | Housed in a ‘puffy‘ metallic pink heart-shaped compact (for the record, it’s definitely NOT easy to photograph), it comes with a full-sized mirror on the inner lid and holds 12 shades in tones of nude, rose and browns, in a mix of mattes and metallics. Divided into 3 quadrants (Big Crush, Big Date, Big Night), the idea behind that is to facilitate the colour pairings, but that’s more for the “look” than anything else — feel free to go wild & choose at will. The formula features highly-pigmented hues with an advanced crease-resistant technology, and while I can definitely vouch for the colour saturation (the swatches speak for themselves), I’m not about to test the crease-resistant part, only because I do have oily lids and I know that I definitely need a primer underneath.
The mattes are all buttery smooth and so easy to blend out, while the metallics are super brilliant and display little fall down — just make sure to tap off any excess from your brush before application. Overall, I would say that this palette leans warm but there’s still enough variety that those with cooler complexions can pull these shades off with ease.

My inner little girl squealed with delight upon viewing this compact, but I confess that the adult in me did some eye-rolling … until I swatched the shades. Then it was all WHOA, these are good. Damn good. The fact that I have a preference for reds/berries has nothing to do with it (ok, maybe it has a little to do with it), and kitsch factor aside, I’d say that the price point and quality of this palette is well worth it. But it is limited edition, so if this Monsieur Big Heart Palette speaks to you, better grab it while you can.
