NARS · Banc de Sable Highlighting Palette

Trust François Nars to draw inspiration from sand in creating the Banc de Sable Highlighting Palette. Exclusive to Sephora, the three shades of this palette can be worn dry or dampened, solo or layered … you’re only limited by your tastes & comfort levels. As Summer is fast approaching (yesssssss), tis the season to get your glow on and you can bet that this little trio is about to become my new bff.

Banc de Sable Highlighting Palette, limited edition (CAN $62.00) | Housed in a compact case with a burnished metallic orange cover, there’s a highlighting shade here for basically every skin tone; Rivage is perfect for cooler complexions while Embruns will suit warmer undertones, and Salé can swing either way and will looking equally amazing on everyone. The texture on all is incredibly fine-milled, bearing a complex yet refined shimmer; applied dry using a fan brush results in a light veil of colour but you can also up the wattage by applying these shades with a dampened brush for a gleam that just might be visible from space … pretty cool, no? Staying power over foundation is true until removed, with the shimmer becoming slightly ‘mellower’ as it fuses with your skin’s natural oils and warmth.

  • Rivage – glistening pearl
  • Salé – shimmering peach champagne
  • Embruns – metallic rose gold

Regardless of how overused highlighters have become thanks to social media beauty ‘gurus’ (oy), there’s something about a strategically placed glow that not only calls attention to one’s features, but draws light to the face in a way that no other product can — literally taking years off in seconds, it seems. Of course, not all highlighters are made equal and having a trio of shades to choose from in one compact makes it easier to play & create. Diffused, intense, or a combination of both styles of application, the Banc de Sable Highlighting Palette delivers and I intend to take full advantage — all year long, in fact.

Finally….a non glitter filled over shiny highlighter that might just work for me:) hoping perhaps this or Estee Lauder Modern Mercury will do the trick. Extremely pale and in my mid 40s it’s hard to find subtle items sometimes lol.

Hi Paula – yes this palette should definitely work for your complexion; I’d definitely use a small fan brush for application since you can always build it up, if needed. Modern Mercury is the highlighter I reach for the most; it’s not glittery or chunky but it is quite pigmented — still definitely worth checking out if you can get your hands on it (it’s about to be reissued again on March 15th!)

What are your thoughts, beautiful?
