Not to take anything away from my love of everything Summer, I must admit that lush & cozy-looking autumnal hues such as these found in the NARS Steel The Show Fall 2017 Color Collection, are pushing all the right buttons. By the way, don’t let appearances fool you; this little grouping packs quite the elegant punch.
Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow (CAN $36.00/each) | I have been a fan of this eyeshadow format from the day it launched. With the option of applying them dry or with a dampened brush, these shades are beautifully pigmented and bear a complex shimmer that adds depth and a little je-ne-sais-quois to any eye look. Longevity (over primer) is amazing, staying true without fading or creasing until removed.
Hydra Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow | Pine green with a silvery undertone
Titania Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow | Titanium/steel grey with a touch of refined silver sparkle.
Kohliner (CAN $32.00/each) | For anyone who’s ever wanted an eyeliner that is richly colour saturated, will stay the course, and has an easy-glide application (without EVER tugging at the sensitive skin of the eye area), then look no further: NARS Kohliners have your back. Water resistant as well, these liners also last quite well along the waterline.
Blissful Blush (CAN $38.00) | At the risk of repeating myself (just read any other NARS post I’ve written that includes a blush), this brand definitely has cornered the market in this area. And while the brand makes some shades that seem a little out there, there’s no doubting this is nevertheless one highly-crafted product. Blissful was more than a surprise; what appears to be a Morticia-esque scary shade in the pan, turns out to be a stunning berry hue when applied. There’s a playful side as well as seen in its pink undertone, while a shimmer is refined enough to give skin radiance without ever coming across as overdone. One warning though: go in with a light hand and blend, blend, blend or run the risk of looking bruised.
First of all, thank you François Nars for creating such a to the point little collection. This time around, the focus is on eyes and cheeks with all of these shades screaming “Fall” to me — and yet I can totally see them working easily throughout all seasons. As to quality, one word comes to mind: superb, making any (or all) of these pieces a worthy investment for your makeup bag. Just when I was bracing for some wildly eclectic collection from this brand, along comes this rather more sedate little group … but with classic NARS subversive hints underlying it all.
