NARS · Wanted Power Pack Lip Kits

So, you probably already own the Wanted Eyeshadow Palette, and after yesterday’s post you’ve most likely now added the Wanted Cheek Palettes to the list … but wait! There’s more! We round things off in the Wanted family with a ‘little’ something-something for the lips: introducing the Wanted Power Pack Lip Kits, consisting of three mini duos that might be small in size, but super large in personality & pigment — loads & loads of it.

Power Pack Lip Kits, limited edition (CAN $30.00/per duo) | First, a disclaimer of sorts; I’m not really the best candidate for matte lip products, as my lips are quite lined and apparently dry out faster than you can imagine (the bane of my existence, it seems). That said, I nonetheless absolutely LOVE the impact and editorial look a matte lip provides and on the days I do indulge, I also prepare my lips quite thoroughly beforehand (think exfoliation and MEGA moisturizing).

What makes the NARS Powermatte liquid lippies stand out for me, is the fact that you actually get saturated & opaque coverage with literally one swipe, with a formula that also has enough flexibility to it so that lips don’t wind up feeling drier than the Sahara. The product itself is super smooth texture-wise, while the squared-off flocked applicator grabs enough product from the get-go to fully cover lips — in turn making it very efficient at getting to all edges/angles as well. Staying power is equally impressive,  managing to last intact through both eating and drinking, but obviously the lighter shades will disappear somewhat faster, while the reds fade to a stain.

Cool Nudes Kit:

  • Le Freak∗ – pale pink nude (limited edition, new shade)
  • American Woman – chestnut rose

Warm Nudes Kit:

  • Hot Blooded∗ – terracotta (limited edition, new shade)
  • Get It On – tan rose

Hot Reds Kit:

  • Cherry Bomb∗ – candy apple red (limited edition, new shade)
  • Don’t Stop – geranium

A closer look at the mini vs the full-size: note that the applicator remains the same size (it’s only the amount of product & size of the tube that’s different)

As I said at the top, I love the intense & editorial look of a matte lip, but it’s not usually my preferred finish — mainly because I’m most often on the go and usually just swipe on some balm or lip gloss (I can be totally lazy like that). That said, I’m pleasantly surprised by the Powermatte formula and how it’s easily one of the best truly matte liquid finishes out there, without killing your lips either. So … my fave out of this lot? Hands down, it’s Cherry Bomb. NARS, if you’re listening, you NEED to make this one permanent.

Available April 5 – Sephora, Hudson’s Bay & Nordstrom, July 1 – Murale & Shopper’s Drug Mart
