NARS · Orgasm 2018 Collection

I could have begun this review with a bajillion puns, but instead I’ll get right to the point: NARS’ Orgasm Collection has grown for 2018, bringing you a few new iterations of the brand’s best-selling shade. This may very well be the true beauty version of Multiple Orgasms … (I couldn’t resist).

Rose-gold packaging … doesn’t get prettier than this

Orgasm Blush, 2018 limited edition (CAN $52.00) | The iconic blush hue with its perfect mix of peachy-pink colours and incredibly fine shimmer, comes in a larger size with this collection and for anyone who missed out on last year’s oversized version, here’s your chance to snag one. There’s a reason this has been a best-seller since its release, provocative name aside: it’s the one shade that magically suits every.single.skin tone. As someone who has more blushes (and most of them from NARS, I might add) than I’ll ever need, it says something that Orgasm is the one shade I’ve hit pan on more than once. And while I do have many other brands & products that I use, I always come back to this — the Holy Grail of them all, the one that provides skin with that perfect flush of colour + glow.

Orgasm Illuminating Loose Powder (CAN $35.00) | A soft rose-gold coloured loose powder version of the cult-fave hue … but one that provides skin with the type of shimmery glow that’s only been achieved until now via the use of Instagram filters. The press info states that this powder can also blur the look of imperfections, and I’m guessing the reflective aspect is probably the reason why. As to how to wear it, well that’s basically up to you and how far you want the glow to take you; you can lightly dust it along cheekbones (or other high points of the face) for a highlit effect, or grab a dual-fibre brush and softly buff it into the skin for an all-over radiance that may sound a little extra, but somehow seems to work … and looks especially amazing against a tan as well.

In the swatch below, I’m showing the Illuminating Loose Powder against other Orgasm face products for reference; all may be in the same colour family, but still maintain enough differences between them to stand unique.

Orgasm Afterglow Lip Balm (CAN $35.00) | Housed in a slim & elegant rose-gold case, this the same flattering Orgasm shade but in lip balm format. The formula features a Monoï Hydrating Complex for comfort, along with a blend of antioxidant ingredients for added protection, and everything just feels so moisturizing and creamy. The ultra-fine shimmer seen in the tube is not felt on the lips, but provides a subtle glow to elevate this from being just another balm. As to staying power, don’t expect anything excessive, although it does give lips a slight tint just the same and the hydrated feel stays long after all traces of product are gone.

There you have it; an Orgasm [collection] for everyone. There are few products in the beauty industry that have withstood the test of time in this way, and while this iconic hue has been imitated by basically all brands across the board, somehow NARS’s version still stands head & shoulders above them all. There is one other item in this collection, the Orgasm Full Vinyl Lip Lacquer, that has yet to make its way to me (production delays), but I’ll definitely be on the lookout for it. After all, one can never have too many Orgasms. #shameless
