New beauty: Guerlain Golden Bee Holiday 2020 Collection

Inspired by the festive spirit of the season, Guerlain has launched the Golden Bee Collection for Holiday 2020. Taking centre stage is the golden bee displayed on the packaging, a symbol synonymous with the House since 1853 when it first appeared on the brand’s Eau de Cologne Impérial bottle. Each piece of the collection is like a treasured work of art … only way better, as you can — and should — use every single item.

Palette Golden Bee, limited edition (CAN $97.00) | With its ultra-slim profile, the design on the cover bears a stylized gilded bee with stars radiating all around and come onnnnn … does it get more festive than this? Inside you’ll find a full-sized mirror on the inner lid along with a dual-ended brush. The ten shades contain a mix of matte, satin and pearly finishes.

Top row (left to right):

  • mint
  • bone
  • copper
  • ice blue
  • petal pink

Bottom row (left to right):

  • pine green
  • champagne
  • terracotta
  • mauve grey
  • eggplant

Météorites Golden Bee, limited edition (CAN $77.00) | This year’s iteration of the iconic face powder takes the best selling 02 harmony, and adds gilded pearls to the mix. The golden tin displays the same design on the lid and comes with a fitted sponge on the inside to ensure the precious little beads don’t go knocking about. While several previous versions included the most adorable little puff, I personally find it much more efficient without, as I prefer using a fluffy brush for application. It’s worth noting that this bears the brand’s signature violet fragrance, but one which dissipates quickly once applied. The effect upon the skin, however, is where the magic lies and is pretty much impossible to accurately describe; let’s just say that it’s like an invisible layer that somehow manages to make your skin glow with the most beautiful radiance, but in a way that looks absolutely natural. Yes, like you were born with it (cheesy, but it fits).

There are few luxury brands that can consistently produce such elegant pieces, but Guerlain definitely stands tall amongst them. As far as holiday collections go, this one is definitely worthy of the title and what’s more, each piece delivers so beautifully. So in the spirit of giving, you may want to gift yourself, or add these to your list … then start dropping some heavy hints. PS: bear in mind that this collection is limited edition. Sigh
