One of the latest arrivals from Pixi Beauty, this Glow In A Box is truly well named, as the products it contained were [probably] designed to get you holiday ready … or maybe even visible from space, yes? Sure, everything here is utterly brilliant & sparkly and yet somehow against all odds, these products are also totally wearable. And since there really aren’t any beauty rules, who says you can’t wear shimmer during the daytime — or anytime you’re totally feeling it?
Glow-y Gossamer Duo (CAN $26.00/each) | Each highlighting duo comes with two complimentary shades in a formula that combines a high level of luminosity, with a texture that feels almost creamy to the touch. While exceptionally brilliant — especially when layered up (as seen in the swatch below), you can also achieve a more diffused glow by using a fan brush and going in with a much lighter hand. Staying power over foundation is solid — although they last quite well on bare skin as well.
- Subtle Sunrise – slightly lighter tonally, more pink based
- Delicate Dew – a few degrees deeper, more peach based
Liquid Fairy Lights (CAN $20.00/each) | With the holidays looming closer, something tells me that I’m going to be making good use of these shades — although in truth, I really don’t need a reason to wear shimmer. Each shade comes with a doe-foot applicator and varying degrees of opacity, although ALL are jam-packed with shimmer & glittery bits. As these are a hybrid liquid/cream product, you they can be applied directly onto primed lids and then either blended out or layered up for maximum impact. Alternatively, if applying over shadow, it’s probably easiest to apply some product onto the back of your hand, then use a finger to lightly dab/pat it onto the lid (a flat synthetic brush works as well). Either way, the effect is quite ‘eye-catching’ #sorrynotsorry
TIP: you can also dab & blend a touch along cheekbones for a unique highlighting effect
- PassionLight – copper brilliance, saturated base
- RoseGold – rose gold brilliance, medium saturation to the base
- Crystalline – pearlescent, sheer base
- SunRay – gold sparkle, medium saturation to the base
- BareBrilliance – taupe brilliance, saturated base
Something about cooler weather and the holiday season, and I immediately begin pulling out all my extra-sparkly makeup … pretty sure I’m not alone, either. What surprises me — the self-professed beauty snob — with Pixi, is that this brand continues to deliver some high performing products at truly affordable prices, all of which means I’m totally willing to overlook the cheaper packaging (I know, it helps to keep the cost down, but what can I say? Details like that matter to me). Also, glitter & sparkle: enough said.
