Remembering and honouring …

I will keep this short, as this is a difficult time in my life right now …

This past Friday, August 24th 2012, my family was dealt a terrible blow; my nephew’s beautiful young bride was tragically taken away from us. On June 9th, 2012, I was dancing at their wedding and telling them both how much I loved them. Today, my heart will be breaking as we lay this vibrant young woman to rest, but I will continue to tell them both how much I love them. Ripped from our lives much too young and suddenly, their journey as a married couple had only just begun – yet now only the memories we carry in our minds and hearts are left behind to offer some measure of comfort. So much sorrow and loss, and yet I also know how deeply Maria touched every single person she met – making us all feel so loved and special.

In the words of the immortal bard, William Shakespeare:

“For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.”
Romeo and Juliet, 5.3

May she rest in eternal peace, and smile down upon us … until we meet again

My heart goes out to you and your family Eugenia, at this terrible time. I am so so sorry for your loss.

I can’t imagine how you cope with such a tragedy. We all expect our elderly relatives to pass on, but when a young vibrant person’s life is taken, it’s impossible to make sense of it.

I can only hope that time will help with healing your families’ broken hearts.

Your community is with you in spirit, dear Eugenia. I hope you can find comfort in those around you, and know that, us, at a distance, wish we could help to ease your pain.

So hard to loose anyone but esp the young. Time moves on but does not really heal like the old saying goes. It just gets a bit easier to move forward without these wonderful folks in our lives. But oh how much richer it would be if they were here with us to share.
