Remembering and honouring …

I will keep this short, as this is a difficult time in my life right now …

This past Friday, August 24th 2012, my family was dealt a terrible blow; my nephew’s beautiful young bride was tragically taken away from us. On June 9th, 2012, I was dancing at their wedding and telling them both how much I loved them. Today, my heart will be breaking as we lay this vibrant young woman to rest, but I will continue to tell them both how much I love them. Ripped from our lives much too young and suddenly, their journey as a married couple had only just begun – yet now only the memories we carry in our minds and hearts are left behind to offer some measure of comfort. So much sorrow and loss, and yet I also know how deeply Maria touched every single person she met – making us all feel so loved and special.

In the words of the immortal bard, William Shakespeare:

“For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.”
Romeo and Juliet, 5.3

May she rest in eternal peace, and smile down upon us … until we meet again
