YSL · Volupté Tint-in-Balm & Volupté Liquid Color Balm

Lip balms and glosses are what I’m all about, and the Volupté products I’m featuring here today not only meet that need, but do it in true YSL fabulous style. The best part? They feel as good as they look and I can pretty much bet that you’ll be wanting to display these any chance you get. Or maybe that’s just me …

Volupté Tint-in-Balm (CAN $44.00/each) | Housed in elegant silver casings with a band displaying the iconic ‘Casandre’ logo, this is a hybrid lipstick: a sheer kiss of colour wrapped around a nourishing balm core. The totally adorable ‘lip heart’ (aka: the balm portion) runs through the entire bullet and is jam-packed with beneficial ingredients such as apricot butter and jojoba oil, so that lips feel continuously hydrated, while the coloured portion surrounding it gives out just a hint of sheer, glowing colour. Bearing a signature pomegranate fragrance, these not only feel absolutely amazing applied, but are totally display-worthy as well — and may I say, just beg to be taken out & shown off in public.

Volupté Liquid Color Balm (CAN $39.00/each) | YSL is definitely hitting it out of the park when it comes to luxurious yet drop-dead-cute packaging, wouldn’t you agree? Housed in similar packaging to the brand’s Tint-in-Oil range but with a lip-shaped window (making it easy to see what colour you’re reaching for AND excellent for monitoring product usage), this is a next-generation technology gloss that’s not only utterly brilliant in finish, but totally colour-saturated as well as absolutely brimming with nourishing ingredients. Bearing a signature mango fragrance (by the way, I’m absolutely loving the fact that both products featured here come with yummy fruit fragrances — making them a nice departure from the usual candy/vanilla scents), the unique lip-shape of the flocked applicator not only picks up enough colour per swipe, but makes application effortless. Some of the beneficial ingredients include: soothing shea butter, antioxidant Vitamin E, coconut water, and jojoba oil, with the 35% active water base providing an initial cooling sensation.

N°1 Night Rehab was created to act as a repairing balm, but can be worn anytime and makes for the perfect nude lip look.

I’m absolutely and totally impressed with both products; Volupté Tint-in-Balm satisfies my desire for whipping out a killer lipstick case — and one that is literally stupid-proof to apply, no mirror required. And while on the pricey side (for a balm), you’re not only buying the packaging (which is unbelievable, by the way) but the formula … one that may just be the most soothing and buttery I’ve tried recently. As to the Volupté Liquid Color Balm, let’s just say that I was completely unprepared for the colour saturation each delivers, along with the amazing lip feel. Plus, this format is right up my gloss-loving self AND how totally irrestisble is that little lippie window, am I right?
