Charlotte Tilbury · The Super Nudes Collection

Charlotte Tilbury recently launched The Super Nudes Collection and I’m so here for it. As a long-time fan of wearing neutrals/nudes, I had a hunch I would fall head over heels for these pieces … and I was right. Time to channel my inner (or outer) supermodel …

What can I say? I’m a sucker for packaging that joins the theme …

The Super Nudes Easy Eye Palette (CAN $72.00) | Housed in a slim-profile compact (which makes it so easy & convenient to tuck into your makeup bag), these are 6 shades in a modern satin formula, created to help you achieve universally flattering smokey eye looks. It’s divided into 2 trios; the three shades on the left make for an effortless daytime look, while the three shades on the right are great for adding more drama to create an evening look. That said, those are just guidelines and I suggest playing around with this palette to mix & match as you please. The texture on all is excellent; smooth and without excessive powdery kickback, easy to blend out and/or layer for more depth. Staying power when worn over primer, is also solid.

The colour payoff here is interesting; I assumed that the deeper shades would be rather strong, but while all are pigmented, the texture makes them easy to apply & blend out for effortless & wearable looks. Neutrals are my faves and while Urban Decay may have created an entire “Naked” empire, I have to admit that this little palette elevates the humble nude to something a lot more sophisticated.

The Super Nudes Liner Duo (CAN $35.00) | Created to work on all complexions and eye colours, this is a dual-ended pencil with a nude shade on one end (great for applying to the inner lower lash line for an “eye-opening” effect), and a deep brown shade on the other that can be used to tightline (inner lower lash line), or worn as traditional liner on the upper lash line. The texture on both is creamy smooth, gliding easily along the delicate skin of the eye area. Both have excellent staying power and if planning on blending out either shade along the upper lash line, I suggest working one eye at a time to ensure they don’t set before you’re done — because once these do set, they’re there for the long haul.

Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes! (CAN $34.00) | Housed in a pale pink tube with a rose gold cap, this was included in the package I received and while technically not part of The Super Nudes Collection, it totally fits in with the theme. Plus as I hadn’t tried this mascara before but have been curious to, its inclusion was very welcome. Said to provide “length, weightless volume, stretch, and a 24-hour vertical lift effect“, the innovative injection moulded micro pro-precision paddle brush head (that’s a mouthful) has loads of diamond shaped bristles to help with the lifting effect, with its narrow size helping to reach even those tiny lashes you had no idea were there. Lightweight natural waxes as well as keratin in the formula ensure that lashes stay hydrated and never get crunchy, while the jet black shade provides intensity.

I have very high standards where mascara is concerned: I want a true deep black colour, volume, length, no smearing, no telltale crescent moon smudging under the eye, and that can be easily removed at the end of the day. This mascara checked every single one of those boxes and while I usually need to test out a mascara several times before I see the results I want, I was pleasantly surprised that this one delivered right from the get-go. Note that I’m wearing just one coat in the swatch below. Yeah … I was impressed too.

The Super Nudes Nudegasm Face Palette (CAN $95.00) | Housed in a square rose gold metal compact depicting a sultry-looking model on the cover (the diamond shaped logo makes for a unique nose, wouldn’t you say?!), the four shades include 2 highlighters and 2 sculpting shades, each with its own unique pattern stamped on the surface. Even though there’s no blush with this collection, the top right shade can still provide a soft pop of colour that will be visible on those with fair to medium skin tones. The soft sculpt shade (bottom right) reminds me of the deeper hue in the brand’s iconic Filmstar Bronze & Glow palette (previously reviewed here), but this one leans slightly cooler. All the textures are incredibly fine-milled and so easy to work with, with each blending out beautifully as well. The deeper sculpt shade can also double as a bronzer and all can work as eyeshadow as well, making this a very versatile palette overall. Plus, how gorgeous is this?

  • Super Glow (top left) – soft champagne with a “wet-shine” texture
  • Multi-Glow (top right) – golden peach with a lustrous satin finish
  • Soft Sculpt (bottom right) – sandy taupe in a hybrid cream-powder formula
  • Super Sculpt (bottom left) – rich umber in a hybrid cream-powder formula

The collection includes 5 lipsticks (CAN $39.00/each): 4 in the Matte Revolution formula and 1 — Runway Royalty — in the more moisturizing K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula (this shade is an online exclusive). Playing on the theme, there’s a nude (or 2) that can easily suit a broad range of skin tones and it all comes down to which formula you prefer. The Matte Revolution texture has to be one of the more comfortable mattes I’ve worn, although the exception to that (for me, at least) was Cover Star which felt more dry upon application and wound up enhancing my lip lines a lot more than I wished. That said, I love it’s 60’s Twiggy Vibe (or today’s Kim Kardashian look) and after pairing it with the brand’s Pillow Talk Lip Cheat and a slick of gloss on top, I made it work. For the record, the other three Matte Revolution shades all felt a lot creamier upon application and did not dry out my lips at all. But my fave out of the bunch has to be Runway Royalty, as much for its buttery texture as for its perfect pink nude shade — even better than the iconic Pillow Talk, if I’m being honest.

Nudes and neutrals are my go-tos and I have to say that Charlotte Tilbury really nailed it with The Super Nudes Collection. Everything is absolutely wearable and useful, and I’m impressed not only by how every product delivers, but by how easily these shades can work on such a broad range of skin tones. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, because after all, Charlotte Tilbury is the queen of red carpet makeup and definitely knows how to create the nudes we all dream of!
