Dior · Summer 2023 Collection

Dior’s Summer 2023 Collection draws inspiration from the sun-drenched French Riviera, with jewel-toned hues and easy to wear shades that just screams summer. Well, maybe not scream, but definitely whisper dreamily … it is the French Riviera, after all.

5 Couleurs Couture, limited edition (CAN $80.00/each) | Housed in slim profile cases with a full sized mirror on the inner lid, both palettes have a marine-inspired design along with the Christian Dior logo embossed on the surface, although these motifs will get worn down with use. The shades all display excellent pigmentation with no powdery fall down, blend effortlessly, and last beautifully provided a primer is applied first (especially if your lids tend to get oily, as mine do). There’s actually a method behind the design of Dior’s palettes, whereby you can easily create a daytime look by using the top 2 + middle shades, or go for more drama/evening by using the bottom 2 + middle shades. That’s great for taking the guesswork out, but feel free to mix & matches you please.

233 Eden-Roc:

  • golden coral, upper left
  • ivory, upper right
  • pearlescent bronze, middle
  • coppery brown, bottom right
  • denim blue, bottom left

533 Rivage:

  • white sand, upper left
  • gold, upper right
  • soft amber, middle
  • chestnut brown, lower right
  • apricot, lower left

Forever Natural Bronze, limited edition (CAN $72.00/each) | Housed in cases covered in a raffia-inspired fabric topstitched with the Christian Dior band and iconic caning, these bronzing powders are meant to provide skin with a natural looking sun-kissed appearance. The formula is comprised of 95% mineral-origin pigments and infused with Pansy Flower Extract to help provide hydrating comfort. The surface of the powder also bears the same Christian Dior band motif. The texture is incredibly fine-milled and blends beautifully into the skin, without showing any sign of oxidation throughout wear. Available in 6 shades (006 Amber Bronze & 007 Golden Bronze, not shown).

002 Light Bronze – the palest of the four, suitable for fair to light complexions

003 Soft Bronze – light golden tan, suitable for light to medium complexions (warm)

004 Tan Bronze – neutral tan, suitable for light to medium complexions

005 Warm Bronze – the warmest of the four, suitable for medium to deep complexions

Side by side view of all four; while both Light Bronze and Tan Bronze appear close, you can clearly see the shade differentiation in the swatch below.

Skin Mattifying Papers (CAN $44.00/100 sheets) | Technically these papers aren’t part of the Summer 2023 Collection, but they are a new arrival and perfect for dealing with shiny skin brought on by hotter weather (aka: they fit the theme). Housed in a slim luxurious padded case with a leather feel to it, this closes with an integrated elastic for added security. There’s a full sized mirror on the inner lid, convenient so you can actually see what it is you’re touching up. The papers are printed with the Dior name and each wafer-thin sheet is composed of plant fibres. Designed to help blot up excess oils and sebum, these papers are perfect for taking along with you to help keep shine at bay.

Rouge Dior 337 Rose Brume Satin Balm (CAN $55.00) | Housed in the brand’s iconic navy case that bears a silver band with the Dior logo & caning, this is a coloured balm that can be worn alone for a soft rose tint, or serving as a primer when layered under other lip products. Comprised of 95% natural-origin ingredients, the texture is buttery smooth and feels absolutely wonderful throughout wear. As someone who leans towards neutral shades, not to mention how I prefer to wear balm over traditional lipstick, this is literally the best of both worlds.

Le Vernis, limited edition (CAN $39.00/each) | I’ve said this so many times before on the blog, but it bears repeating: Dior makes some of the absolute best nail polishes, and the four of this collection are no exception. The brush is dense and has a bevelled rounded head which makes it perfect for hugging the curve of the nail bed with ease. The formula is infused with peony and pistachio extracts to provide nourishing properties, and lays down in a self-levelling way. The natural finish is absolutely brilliant, while staying power is excellent, provided base & top coats are also applied.

All swatches below are with 2 coats of polish, no base or top coat added (for photography purposes)

  • 007 Jasmin | cloud white crème
  • 333 Rivage | Creamsicle orange with micro fine shimmer
  • 513 Solar Bronze | golden bronze with ultra fine complex shimmer
  • 909 Eden-Roc | denim blue with ultra fine shimmer

Dior has managed to effortlessly capture that lazy summer vibe with this collection, as well as providing a nice touch of sophistication with each piece. As far as performance goes, every single product absolutely delivers. I can’t even pick a fave, as everything has impressed me equally — the only downside, is that this is a limited edition collection, so run … don’t walk.
