Sneak Peek! – CHANEL Riva nail polish from their Cruise Collection 2011
The frenzy continues: CHANEL has leaked out some details of its next sure-to-be-coveted-worldwide nail colour: Riva. For this collection, CHANEL chose sunny & exotic Côte d’Azur, with the models arriving at the old port carried by a flotilla of ‘Riva’ boats (see picture). The inspiration behind this collection was the free-spirited days of the 70’s and the clothing and makeup/nail colour echoed that feeling, portraying a loose, easy and carefree nonchalance.
Riva is a pale baby blue with hints of subtle shimmer in it’s depths and I have to admit that no one does that perfect mix of delicate shimmer and edgy colour quite like CHANEL. At first glance from the promo pictures, you might think that this upcoming shade is very close to last summer’s hit ‘Nouvelle Vague’ but whereas NV has more green in its base, making it a true Robin’s Egg Blue (or as I like to think of it, Tiffany Box Blue!), Riva is definitely more of a whispery sky hue. As CHANEL nail polishes go, the retail price will be rather on the steep side: €25 or US/CAD $35.00 (plus tax!) and it will definitely be a limited shade so if you’re a CHANEL nail polish collector like I am, get your hands on it while you can. The polish is slated to go on sale as of December 1st at all CHANEL boutiques but I wouldn’t be surprised if chanel.com will be carrying it as well. Other than four Rouge Coco lipsticks (Perlé, Chintz, Taffetas Rose and Sari Doré) accompanying this nail polish, I’m not sure at this point what other cosmetics they will release with this collection but I will update as soon as more information becomes available, but for now enjoy the pictures and let me know if you’ll be tempted to bite!
Peter Phillips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL, had this to say about the collection:
“Effortless, natural beauty, relaxed girls who are enjoying their holidays. That was the main idea behind the look of this show”
(Much gratitude to Michèle from Lacquerized who was personally given the scoop from CHANEL on this collection)
