Today is my birthday! ♥
For my celebratory nail look, I thought long and hard about what I wanted to wear; something festive but not too girly, sophisticated yet whimsical, moody and vibrant – then it hit me: ‘The Black Knight’ from Butter London. But first, the story …
Several months ago, I heard about a unique lacquer from Butter London called ‘The Black Knight’. All I knew at the time, was that it was limited edition and oh-so-very amazing. If nothing else, I wanted this for the name alone – called to the Arthurian fan in me. Naturally, it was nowhere to found around here, so I was left with nothing but the longing, although I consoled myself with the thought that I really wasn’t all that much into glitters anyway – no big deal, right? Right …. When I was finally able to get my hands (nails?!) on this beauty, I couldn’t have been happier – or more wrong about glitter polishes!

‘The Black Knight’ reminds me of one of those Hubble Telescope images, like the one shown above; it’s like having slices of our galaxy painted along your nails. The medium thick formula is comprised of a black semi-sheer base, and is simply filled to the brim with ultra-fine multi coloured glitter in shades of pink, blue, purple, green, silver and gold, with a nice self-levelling flow. Two coats can give fairly decent coverage, but three coats – as I applied here – makes an incredible impact, as it appears to add an inky depth to the black base hue and really helps the glitter to stand out. As this varnish does feel slightly gritty to the touch, I recommend applying a rather thicker top coat to smooth out the surface and provide a glossy finish to really bring this shade to vivid life. As you might expect, there is some extra effort involved in removal, but on the plus side: no staining.

Final thoughts: Even though I’ve never believed that glitter lacquers are for me (that “age-appropriate” thing rearing its ugly head again …), I can’t help but be so totally drawn to this exotic beauty. What saves it for me is the mysterious black base colour and the tiny size of the glimmery bits – it’s like a grown up version of glitter, and therefore perfectly wearable and in line with my tastes. Then there’s the name and all the imagery it inspires … how can anyone resist? As far as I’m concerned, I couldn’t have chosen a more appropriate varnish to celebrate with! buy zetia online rxxbuynoprescriptiononline.net/zetia.html no prescription
