CHANEL · Backstage Beauty Métiers d’Art Show 2021
Every year CHANEL pays tribute to the virtuoso hands behind all the exquisite details that go into each creation with the Métiers d’Art show, with the 2021/22 Collection held at Le 19M — the new venue where all of the Maison’s artisans are currently housed. Initiated by Coco Chanel herself, this endeavour helps to preserve the incredible skills of several hundred artisans, while also shaping new specialists to further these time-honoured traditions. The beauty look was both avant-garde and timeless … and you can bet that I’ll be trying my hand to recreate it. Wish me luck.
Dior Backstage · Face & Body Powder-No-Powder
Inspired by his work behind the scenes at runway shows, Peter Philips created the Backstage product line in 2018 — a range that is simultaneously professional and intuitive in its approach to makeup. Each season, the brand’s Creative & Image Director finds a way to transmit his pro secrets through essential and universal products that deliver on performance, but also happen to be so easy to use. All I know, is that I’ve yet to be disappointed by anything in the lineup … and that record is still holding strong with this launch.
CHANEL · Backstage Beauty Fall-Winter 2021/22 Haute Couture

Interestingly, both makeup and hair had a strong edge, an effect that toned down the softness of the pieces and gave the looks an overall rock & roll vibe which I personally found so fresh and, well … cool.
CHANEL Cruise 2021/22 Collection · Backstage Beauty
This past May 3rd, CHANEL presented its Cruise 2021-2022 Collection, with Virginie Viard once again turning to Gabrielle Chanel’s personal archives for inspiration. Held at Carrières de Lumières in Les Baux-de-Provence (South of France), this former quarry with its towering stone-cut walls, instantly calls to mind ancient Egyptian structures (no? just me?). So totally unique and absolutely impressive … and now I absolutely want to go there.
New: CHANEL Métiers d’Art 2021 Backstage Beauty
The recent CHANEL Métiers d’Art 2021 Collection was intended to be viewed in person at the 16th-century Château de Chenonceau (more commonly known as the “Château de Dames”) and while the runway show did indeed take place there, thanks to the current pandemic it ended up seen only virtually. Not that it lessened the grandeur one bit, mind you …
