CHANEL Spring/Summer 2020 Haute Couture Beauty
For the recent CHANEL Spring-Summer Haute Couture Show, the nave of Paris’ Grand Palais was transformed into a cloister garden, evoking the ancient Cistercian Abbey of Aubazine, France, a place that played a key role in the life of Gabrielle Chanel. With a working fountain and abundant greenery, the models appeared from behind crisp white sheets, hung as if to capture the heat and fragrance of the garden. The setting and theme of this presentation by Virginie Viard displayed a timeless beauty and simplicity, done in homage to the fundamental narrative of the House of CHANEL. And while I was held spellbound by so many of the designs, it was the beauty look that really blew me away.
CHANEL · Éclat Du Désert Illuminating Powder Spring/Summer 2020
Inspired by the soothing light (I’m guessing that would be at twilight) and powerful stillness of the desert, CHANEL has just launched their Spring/Summer 2020 Collection, with one of the star pieces being this Éclat Du Désert Illuminating Powder. This may be just me, but I find something so calming about the look of this highlighter — it’s like I can almost hear the wind whispering along the sand dunes. Too much? lol
Givenchy · Matissime Velvet Radiant Mat Fluid Foundation
My foundation preferences are simple; I want a light to soft medium coverage, an absolutely weightless feel, and a totally natural-looking finish that also keeps my T-zone from looking like an oil slick. Ok, so maybe my wish list isn’t as simple as I thought, but surprisingly all my criteria have been met with Givenchy’s Matissime Velvet Fluid Foundation — this, I was so NOT expecting but I’m so happy to have discovered.

I was 14 when the original Star Wars™ movie was released and I literally went and saw it in theatre 7 times (obviously this was before BluRay existed). To say that I am a sci-fi geek wouldn’t be a lie, so when I received an email notification that Pat McGrath was launching a collection to coincide with the release of Star Wars™: The Rise of Skywalker, I didn’t hesitate. Beauty + science fiction = PERFECTION, at least for me.

I couldn’t think of a more appropriate way to end 2019 than with this spectacular beauty, CHANEL’s Duo de Camélias Illuminating Face Powder. An online exclusive, this was one I was not going to pass up on — mainly because you all know about my obsession with this brand (seriously; click the CHANEL tab in the sidebar to see exactly what I’m talking about), but also because something about the pattern literally stopped me in my tracks. And then I realized: this would make THE perfect highlighter to wear on New Year’s Eve. I love it when all the stars are aligned this way!
