CHANEL’s upcoming Spring 2011 collection is spectacular, beginning with the breathtaking clothes, the classic hair, inspired makeup looks and the avant-garde nails. No detail, as expected from a venerable house like this, has been overlooked.
The inspiration behind this collection is the classic beauty and lustre of pearls, and I love how unconventional the chosen colours seem to be. Le Vernis Black Pearl is one such example, being what looks like a darkened anthracite green, with gunmetal swirls and an almost duochrome effect. Of the other polishes to be launched with this collection, Pearl Drop seems to be a true ‘pearl’ but with gold shimmer transforming it depending on the light. Pêche Nacrée is said to be a sheer, almost bronzy peach shade.
There will be 2 eye shadow palettes released; Ombres Perlées is a new- for- CHANEL quint shadow set consisting of the following iridescent shades:
- Blanc Perlé – luminous white
- Rose Porcelaine – sun bleached dusty rose
- Violine Clair – muted plum
- Gris Vert – dusty grey/green
- Gris Noir – smudged grey/black
The other palette is a 4-shadow set, Les 4 Ombres Regard Perlé, consisting of what looks like a summery rose, a pearly white and a beigey pale nude, as well as a deep green-grey (another anthracite shade but in powder form). There is also one eye liner included in this collection, Le Crayon Yeux, available in Gris Scintillant, a pearlized gunmetal grey.
Poudre Universelle Compacte in Rose Merveille is a finely milled highlight/face powder, in a dusty pink with delicate micro-shimmer, while Joues Contraste blush in Espiègle is a sheer peachy-rose tone, a wonderful & delicate counterpoint to the more dramatic eyes shown.
There are 2 Rouge Allure lipsticks (Flamboyante – a shimmering rosy red & Coquette – A vivid pink), as well as 2 Rouge Coco lipsticks (Jersey Rose – a soft flattering pink & Peregrina – a more delicate coral) and 2 Crayon Lèvres lip liners (Framboise – a raspberry hue & Pêche – an understated peach):
Of the two Lèvres Scintillants lip glosses, Nakkar is described as a ‘soda’ pink with golden shimmer throughout and Aragonite is a white-ish sheer base with subtle flecks of pink & blue.
While for most of us, buying this entire collection (as much as we really, really, really want to) seems somewhat unrealistic, we can at least settle for a standout nail polish such as Black Pearl, which I’ve heard will NOT be limited edition (no need to empty your bank account trying to secure it).
