CHANEL – Les Beiges de CHANEL Healthy Glow Sheer Powder #20 & #30 and Retractable Kabuki Brush

CHANEL Les Beiges opener

Said to be their most innovative product of the year, CHANEL has just released Les Beiges de CHANEL Healthy Glow Sheer Powder in 5 shades (although I understand that there may be 2 more shades available in other countries), along with a new Retractable Kabuki Brush. A hybrid finishing powder product and/or bronzer (depending on your skin tone and the shade selected), these are inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s passion for freedom – a new makeup approach for “simple, intuitive and natural beauty”, as depicted by supermodel Giselle Bundchen, the new face of the Les Beiges campaign.

Designed by Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, Peter Philips (who has since left that position), the innovation begins with a new exclusive CHANEL BEIGE coloured lacquered compacts with their iconic double C logo. The demi-lune natural bristled brush that is included with each compact, is soft and totally useable as well, providing the sheerest coverage.

But what are these powders?

According to the company, there are several ways that they can be used:

  1. as an all-over healthy glow powder, applied over existing foundation using the demi-lune brush
  2. as a foundation, using the Kabuki brush in small round circular movements to create a seamless makeup finish (a flat synthetic foundation brush can be used for similar effect as well)
  3. as a sculpting powder ie: contouring agent
  4. as a bronzer
  5. as a blusher

With an SPF 15/PA ++ as well as enriched with cotton flower and white rose plant cells, these lightweight powders help shield the skin from environmental stresses, can be worn by even the most sensitive skin types, and may actually help improve your skin’s appearance over time.

Having worn my two chosen Les Beiges shades (#20 & #30) in all of the above- mentioned capacities, I can personally attest to how amazing they are. Over clean skin, the look is fresh and lightly evens out my overall tone. Applied over foundation and lightly buffed in, my skin looked almost Photoshop perfect. As a bronzer, the look was subtle & natural, while used as a blush, I sported the most believable flush to my skin. Lightly scented with gardenia, these powders are so incredibly finely milled, that they almost feel like a mousse when applied – sheer (but buildable), and basically weightless.

CHANEL Les Beige #20 sunlight

Les Beiges de CHANEL #20 (CAD $60.00 12 g/0.42 oz) – the second lightest shade of the 5, #20 suits light to medium complexions, and gives a beautifully natural flawless finish to the skin. Applied over foundation, this not only acts as a setting powder, but seems to blur any fine lines to give a soft-focus effect that you immediately notice. Staying power is excellent, lasting well over 12 hours with no signs of fading, caking, sliding, or settling into fine lines.

Seen in the pan, the colour looks surprisingly dark, although you need to keep in mind how sheer these powders are and that all you need is the barest whisper across the skin. This shade is perfect for an all over face powder and can basically be used year-round.

CHANEL Les beiges #30 sunlight

Les Beiges de CHANEL #30 (CAD $60.00 12 g/0.42 oz) – right in the middle of the 5 shades, #30 is the most versatile colour of them all, as it can be used several ways – as an all-over powder/foundation on medium skin tones or on lightly tanned skin, as a bronzer for light-medium tones, and finally as a natural looking blush. While relatively matte in finish, I detected the barest hint of a glow with #30 – nothing overt, but just enough to give my skin the look of optimum health.

Combining #30 in strategic areas over the face in conjunction with #20, produces a stunningly healthy looking glow – like you’ve just taken a walk along the beach and been lightly kissed by the sun – my favourite way to wear both powders.

CHANEL Kabuki Brush

Retractable Kabuki Brush (CAD $52.00) – domed & densely bristled in a retractable format, this is hands down THE softest brush I have ever come across. Able to pick up the perfect amount of powder from the first sweep, the shape and feel of this brush makes it effortless to apply the powder to the face, while imparting a totally flawless finish. Its velvety softness can also benefit anyone with dry skin, as these bristles will ensure that no flakes upon the skin’s surface will get stirred up upon application. Another huge plus is that it’s portable, making it the perfect tool to have in your makeup bag for on the go touch-ups.

Last word: That feeling that you look your absolute, flawless best although you can’t exactly define why – THAT’s what the new Les Beiges powders provide. With only 5 shades offered, it would seem like there aren’t too many options to choose from, although #10 (the palest) should easily suit those with the fairest skin, and #50 (the deepest) those with rather dark skin tones – with the other 3 shades (#20, #30, #40) fitting a broad range of tones in between. I can’t stress enough how ultra, ultra finely milled and silky these powders are as well as their sheerness & lightweight factor – it would be difficult to over apply them, and using the Kabuki Brush to buff them into the skin gives an impeccable finish to the skin. As a matter of fact, even if you can resist these powders, you should NOT pass up on this brush. It’s that amazing. I chose 2 shades, because I found that wearing both (as seen on Giselle in the above promo shot), gives the most natural look to the face, but that’s just my opinion – you can certainly wear each shade individually. I heard that these are set to replace the brand’s current range of bronzers, but that remains to be seen. One thing’s for sure: these are my new Holy Grail powders and I’m so happy that they are part of CHANEL’s permanent lineup. buy vidalista online newonlineandblo.com/vidalista.html no prescription

I picked mine up through The Bay (Canada). Availability in the US is slated for an August release.
