Another item from CHANEL’s Spring 2012 collection that came home with me, is the limited edition Rouge Coco Shine in #69 ‘Flirt’, an oh-so-pretty pale coral/pink, balm-like lipstick. For convenience sake I tend to stick with glosses, but I also have a weakness for lipsticks (and blushes, and eyeshadows, and highlighters, etc…), and this universally flattering shade is exactly what I was looking for to add a subtle splash of colour.

#69 Flirt
My second Rouge Coco Shine (I picked up #54 ‘Boy’ When CHANEL launched the line last year), ‘Flirt’ is one of 2 limited edition shades released with this collection, and totally in keeping with the spring theme, bearing a fresh salmony-peach hue. The texture is incredibly soft and balm-like, with the colour definitely leaning on the sheer side, leaving a nice dewy gloss behind. As this is a very emollient product, there are several drawbacks you need to be aware of; the sheerness means you cannot achieve full coverage if desired, and with its glossiness adding that extra slip, lasting power is minimal, at best. That being said, if you’re looking for a delicate wash of colour but wish to avoid the stickiness factor of a lipgloss, this is an excellent compromise.
natural daylight – brings out more of its pink base
flash – draws forth a peachier tone
Final thoughts: ‘Flirt’ is absolutely lovely and I personally feel it will compliment a variety of skin tones, adding just the right amount of colour and shine to look incredibly fresh and springlike. The downside, if any, is the price: at CAD $39.00, it is rather steep for what is essentially a coloured balm. I managed to get about an hour’s worth of wear before the slight colour faded, but I was nonetheless quite pleased with the softly moist feel it left behind on my lips. That being said, I am quite particular with what products I use on my lips, as I have had issues with some lipsticks giving me a major case of “lip flakies”, and I’m really happy that report that I experienced to adverse effects with ‘Flirt’. Pricey, to be sure, but a fabulous alternative to much heavier lipsticks.
Did anyone else pick this up, and if so, how would you rate it? Just curious …
