CHANEL · Éclat Du Désert Illuminating Powder Spring/Summer 2020

Inspired by the soothing light (I’m guessing that would be at twilight) and powerful stillness of the desert, CHANEL has just launched their Spring/Summer 2020 Collection, with one of the star pieces being this Éclat Du Désert Illuminating Powder. This may be just me, but I find something so calming about the look of this highlighter — it’s like I can almost hear the wind whispering along the sand dunes. Too much? lol

Éclat Du Désert Illuminating Powder, limited edition (C $80.00) | Housed in the brand’s iconic black lacquered case with the Double C’s on the lid and a protective velour sleeve, it includes a full-sized mirror on the inner lid along with a natural-bristle demilune brush (which also has its own protective velour sleeve). The surface pattern is that of an undulating sand dune, while the colour of the powder is a soft dusty rose, a shade that should suit a broad range of skin tones as it strikes a good balance between being both cool & warm. The texture is incredibly fine-milled and blends like a dream upon application, leaving behind a glowy radiance as opposed to blinding shimmer. Staying power over primer/foundation, is excellent as well — and only seems to continue getting better with the wearing, melding with your skin’s natural oils and warmth.

As lovely as the design on this powder is, it’s the result you get with it that makes it a total winner, in my opinion. If you like your highlighters to be seen from outer space, then keep on moving because Éclat Du Désert gives a more subtle glow, more along the lines of a healthy sheen. Then again, if you’re a collector as I am, you’ll probably want this no matter what, am I right? And yes, it’s limited edition … you know the drill.
