China Glaze – Crackle Glaze

China Glaze is jumping onto the crackle polish effect bandwagon, with their own version, simply called: Crackle Glaze.  Sarena Kirby, Brand Manager of new collections at China Glaze, crackle polish says that crackle polish is a ‘hot’ trend for 2011, or as she likes to call it, “dinosaur eggs manicures”!

“The innovative technology creates a deconstructed crackle design over your favorite shimmer, glitter or crème nail lacquer. The look is edgy, creative, and makes a bold statement.” (Sarena Kirby)

Launching in January 2100, this product will be available in 6 different colours that you can play with to create numerous effects. According to Nails Magazine, to use a crackle polish, simply apply base coat, then any polish color (in any texture from cream to glitter) and let it dry. Then, apply crackle polish and watch it crack. Seal with top coat as usual. Depending on what polish color and texture you choose to use under the crackle you can create looks from sophisticated to punk.

So what do you think? The past year has seen us try matte, suede, pleather, foils, rubberized and heavy glitter nail polishes, as well as our usual jellies, cremes, metallics & shimmers.  Is this upcoming new trend something you’ll be trying?  I personally thought it wasn’t for me, but I admit to a curiosity to see the effect and what colour combos I can come up with….it makes for interesting conversation at any rate!

UPDATE : The six different Crackle colors will include: Black Mesh (black crackle), Lightening Bolt (white crackle), Broken Hearted (pink crackle), Cracked Concrete (grey crackle), Crushed Candy (teal crackle) and Fault Line (purple crackle).
