Dior · Rouge Dior 2024

Under the guidance of Creative and Image Director Peter Philips, Dior has reinvented their iconic Rouge Dior lipstick with a formula that’s chock full of amazing ingredients and comes in a range of 70 shades, in both satin and velvet finishes. The only downside? How to decide between all that gorgeousness.

The case has also been tweaked, still coming in the brand’s recognizable navy lacquered hue, but with a slimmer profile and with the buckle logo placed a little lower down.

Rouge Dior (CAN $65.00/each) | Available in 70 shades in either a Satin or Velvet finish, these are also refillable. The formula contains: floral ingredients, extract of red peony, plus omega 6 & 9 essential fatty acids to protect skin barrier and which provides continuous moisture and hydration, as well as improved lip care & long lasting colour. The 3 floral oily extracts are: pomegranate flower extract (provides a slight plumping effect), prickly pear flower extract (optimizes the hydrating effect of lipstick), and hibiscus flower extract (provides comfort by encouraging the natural synthesis of ceramides). Additionally, shea butters added for treatment action, while ultra vibrant pigments are there for intense colour. Even the lipstick bullet is now decorated in minute detail, drawing inspiration from Dior’s fine fabrics. The Satin shades provide a luminous finish combined with natural origin waxes and a duo of powders that help contribute to the sensorial feel and glide. The Velvet finish is inspired by lush velvet fabric and includes a 100% natural origin trio of waxes that enables the correct amount of glide + colour adhesion, combined with a silky gel for a soft-touch effect as well as 2 oils that help with glide, while 3 powders provide softness and a luminous matte finish.

The texture is absolutely sublime and all apply effortlessly, displaying full coverage from the very first swipe. With their creamy feel, lips maintain a nice moisture level and I love how the velvet shades never leave lips feeling dry. Staying power is excellent, in particular with the reds and deeper shades and while the lighter hues may need reapplication, I have no issue pulling one of these beauties out in public to do the job.

Can we have a moment of appreciation for this exquisite pattern?
