In my opinion, having a healthy head of hair is tied with having clear, healthy skin as far as beauty goes – and just as I love pampering my skin (everywhere), I give an equal amount of attention to my locks. Genetically, I’ve been blessed with healthy & resilient hair that always seemed to grow at the speed of light, but lately I’ve noticed changes, primarily in regrowth which appears to have slowed down considerably sound the alarms. Enter the new DS. Laboratories shampoo & conditioner duo to the rescue – and to be honest, these are the type of products I never, ever thought I’d need to use. The times, they are a-changin’…
The advanced technology that has gone into these high-performance products, is quite impressive; DS. Laboratories has developed a chemical-free extraction process to improve the synergy of some of the ingredients, in order to better preserve their efficacy and clinical properties – thus through this gentler mechanical compression, compounds are obtained as pure active molecules. Some of the active ingredients:
- Apple Polyphenol (procyanidin B-2) – found in the skin of apples, which acts as a potent antioxidant and protects cells against free radicals
- Copper Peptides – amino acid groups that act as anti-inflamatory agents and possible tissue remodeling agents
- Ketoconazole – topical ketoconazole that bears antifungal properties and may help with preventing hair loss
- Rooibos – botanical ingredient with potent antioxidant and anti-inflamatory properties
Revita High-Performance Hair-Stimulating Shampoo
Revita Shampoo, information & directions
Revita High-Performance Hair-Stimulating Shampoo – (CAD $31.00) A creamy orange-coloured shampoo that bears a citrusy-medicinal scent, and feels slightly tingly on the scalp. According to the company, this product is designed to:
- maintain scalp vitality and combat hair follical dysfunction and ageing
- prevent dry irritated scalp and hair thinning/shedding due to follicular attack
- combines anti-inflamatory and anti-fungal ingredients along with antioxidants, to hydrate, feed, and stimulate hair to its best form
- sulfate-free and colour safe
The results: Colouring my hair a pale champagne blonde, also means a major commitment on my part: regular appointments every 4-5 weeks for root touch-ups, and extra moisturizing/conditioning treatments. Even with all that care, I’ve noticed that my hair growth has definitely slowed down and – horrors – it actually began to feel thinner.

Skeptical that a mere shampoo would help, I was surprised and impressed by the results. Once applied to the hair, my scalp didn’t feel tingly, but rather like it was “breathing” – a very unique sensation, let me tell you. Leaving the first shampoo on for a couple of minutes, I then rinsed it out and lathered up a second time which I left on for about another 3 minutes, before rinsing everything out again. Even soaking wet, my hair actually felt thicker & fuller – totally unexpected. Also, considering that this product is sulfate-free, I’m happy to note that it still lathers up quite well.
The only negative I have to say, lies with the packaging and not the product itself; the high-density plastic used for the bottle is quite stiff and very difficult to squeeze out the shampoo one-handed; even using both hands, you need to apply a significant amount of pressure to extract the contents. Turning the bottle upside down to facilitate flow was a huge mistake, as there was quite a bit of product leakage/mess – not something you want to see when you’re paying top dollar for an item like this.

Revita.COR High-Performance Hair-Stimulating Conditioner, directions & ingredients
Revita.COR High-Performance Hair-Stimulating Conditioner – (CAD $32.00) a thick white creamy consistency with a light medicinal scent – not unpleasant at all – no citrusy undertones. Meant to work synergistically with the shampoo and according to the company, this conditioner:
- contains powerful ingredients proven to stimulate hair growth
- keeps working long after it has been rinsed – up to 12 hours!
- protects, nourishes, and conditions deeply and persistently
My results: I absolutely LOVE how this conditioner made my hair feel; after rinsing out my second shampoo, I would apply this conditioner and leave it on for about 5 minutes or so while I finished the rest of my shower, washing it out as the last step. Combing out my hair was not only effortless, but no other leave in product was needed and once dried, my hair looked shinier and just generally healthier, something I would not have believe had I not experienced it first hand.

Once again, the only negative lies with the packaging, and definitely not with the product; as this conditioner bears a very dense consistency, it does not easily flow from the cap’s opening and you need hands of steel to squeeze it out. Turning the bottle upside down to facilitate flow worked a lot better and with more success than with the shampoo, as there was no spillage, but you still require effort to retrieve the contents.
Final thoughts: There is no doubt about it, these are some of the best, if not THE best hair care products I have ever tried – from drugstore brands to designer high end brands; the company created this duo with the thought that money was no object, and therefore used the most effective ingredients available – and it shows. My hair has never looked or felt better and I found that even my colour seemed to last longer, without dulling or fading. Will I buy this shampoo and conditioner again? Undeniably, but the company needs to take a good look at their packaging/delivery system, and make some major adjustments. Other than that, if you’ve noticed changes in your hair – whether it’s hair loss, lack of body/shine, thinning, slow regrowth, or just the general blahs, then you owe it to your mane to consider Revita and Revita.Cor – yes, they work.
