Essie – Spring 2011 News!

Winter cosmetic and nail polish collections still haven’t fully hit the counters yet and some of us are already wondering what Spring will hold in store!  Are we that fickle, or just obsessed?! Personally, I like to think that all us beauty lovers out there are just highly creative types who love to play with colour….sounds pretty good to me!

Okay, so while I searched high and low for any kind of whisper of what colours Essie will spring on us, there’s nothing forthcoming…..yet!  I was lucky enough to stumble across an article on Pantone‘s website which while not siting any specific colour scheme per se, does give reference to which direction the line will be headed.  The rest is up to our imagination!

“Paris. It seems an obvious choice, as it is one of the historic centers of fashion, but there was a large move away from the influence of Paris in the ‘90s in favor of the sweeping globalism that transfigured the world. I think there has been an inevitable return to Paris. Paris means many things to many people, but for me, it is the city of feminine romance!

We are seeing Parisian sensibility in everything right now – fashion, design, literature – you name it. In fact, my spring 2011 collection is heavily influenced by French glamour. This spring will blossom in shades of Antique Roses, Pretty Beiges and Alluring Blues. Metallics, once seen as déclassé, are again becoming de rigueur. Fabulous yet subtle metallics and iridescents for spring are surprising twists on classics, yet still very demure and charming. Springtime is always the time for a beautiful breath of fresh air”.

I’m on the fence about the ‘Antique Roses’ mentioned above — I will most definitely have to see what direction that shade will go, as I personally have always found that rose shades can be rather temperamental (tending towards either too ‘flower girl’ or too ‘old biddy’ on me), but I must say that I’m excited that beige will still be prominent as well as more blues in the lineup.  Metallics, I’m happy to report, will continue their hot streak and I’m looking forward to seeing how Essie will be interpreting the metallic finish in their new collection.

What are your thoughts, beautiful?
