First Look – OPI ‘Ahoy, Me Hearties’ Summer 2011 Collection

To coincide with the release on May 20th of what’s sure to be this summer’s blockbuster, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, OPI has announced its latest movie tie-in collection, aptly titled “Ahoy, Me Hearties”. This will consist of 6 limited edition polishes, in fairly light shades and a few in what I believe is a departure from the colours OPI has shown us so far. Along with this collection and still riding the shatter effect wave, OPI is also coming out with ‘Silver Shatter’, which promises to be even more unique and an even bigger hit than ‘Black Shatter’ has proven to be thus far. ‘Skull and Glossbones’ (OPI….I have to admit, you nailed it with this name!) looks to be a pale grey, with an almost ghoulish green tinge to it.

‘Mermaid’s Tears’ is a washed out, almost sea-foam pale green. I so love the haunting and romantic imagery that comes with this name!

‘Steady As She Rose’ is probably the most common shade out of the collection, and appears to be a delicate blush pink.

‘Planks A Lot’ looks to me to be the most vibrant out of the bunch, being a deep but murky violet.

For pink lovers, ‘Sparrow Me The Drama’ will definitely fill that need. This shade is a medium toned pink, with definite lavender leanings.

The movie’s namesake shade, ‘Stranger Tides’, seems to be a pale sage green but with a twist; as with ‘Skull and Glossbones’, this is unique in that is veers from the pretty and heads into almost grunge territory….really cool though!

Surely to be highly sought after, ‘Silver Shatter’ will give a gleaming silver shatter effect to your nails, effectively giving you two looks in one. If you didn’t jump on the ‘Black Shatter’ band wagon, then I’m sure that this one will surely win your heart!

Note how ‘Silver Shatter’ (on the left) gives a gleaming ‘hidden treasure’ look when worn over the shades of this collection….I seriously can’t wait to try this out!
