Guerlain recently launched KissKiss Shine Bloom — an innovative formula that’s probably one of the most luxurious balm/lipstick hybrids I’ve ever tried, and considering the beating my lips have taken with all this mask-wearing, I’m so ready for some major TLC … and looking quite chic while doing so. Oh, and did I mention that the formula consists of 95% naturally derived ingredients? Not too shabby, am I right?

For quite some time now, Guerlain has been committed to ‘Beauty & Eco Responsibility‘, and I need to highlight a few things about this incredible press mailer. The gorgeous crimson box was designed sustainably using cardboard that is FSC & PEFC certified paper along with certified organic lamination. The inner “garden” is composed of natural foam and flowers (all real) hailing from Provence, France, as well as the Netherlands. Beauty with a cause is always a win in my book, but in this case that mantra went up several levels and all I can say, is that my jaw literally dropped when I opened this up.
KissKiss Shine Bloom Lipstick (CAN $48.00/each) | Inspired by the colour of flowers, these hybrid lipstick/balms are available in 20 luscious new shades and come housed in the brand’s signature luxury casings, done in a soft brushed gold. What makes them extraordinary, however, is the formula: comprised of 95% naturally derived ingredients (the remaining 5% contributes to optimizing and maintaining the formula’s integrity over time) they also contain a floral lip care concentrate at their heart, consisting of 24h hydrating hyaluronic acid, nourishing shea butter, and smoothing winter rose extract. How delish does that sound? Without compromising on texture (think: buttery), colour (excellent opacity from the first swipe), or shine, the formulation also includes Candelilla Wax — known for its unique reflective power, along with the levelling action of Winter Rose Oil Extract — all of which helps to provide an exceptionally “melting” texture, a pop of colour, and an absolutely lovely shine. The final touch is a soft floral/vanilla fragrance to complete the sensorial experience (and that’s totally NOT an exaggeration) but which definitely dissipates quickly after application.
TIP: Apply My Kiss Glow under any of the shades to amp up the shine factor. You can also layer shades to create a unique customizable colour.
Also included in the generous mailer was this packet of bee-friendly wildflower seeds, in line with the impressive initiative that Guerlain began over 10 years ago. As well, with the launch of this lipstick range, Guerlain created an online campaign with the help of an ‘Air Kiss‘ Instagram filter, to bring people together around a crucial commitment: the protection of bees. For every ‘Air Kiss‘ posted, 10,000 flowers will blossom with the help of the Women Beekeepers who are also part of Guerlain’s partnership with UNESCO and the French Beekeeping Observatory (OFA). Over the next 5 years, 50 women from around the globe will be exclusively trained in the art of beekeeping so that they in turn can train others — thus empowering women AND helping to save our planet’s bees. And this, my friends, is why I love this brand so much (the gorgeous makeup & stunning fragrances don’t hurt, either).

It’s no secret that Guerlain has long been one of my favourite brands, and there’s good reason for that: the products are all exquisitely crafted but more importantly, all deliver on performance. Add to that the bee-saving initiative — a cause that’s incredibly important to me (and should be for the entire planet), and it only serves to make me love this brand all the more. Finally, I have one thing left to say about these lipsticks: I have never worn anything as comfortable … and let’s just say I’ve worn more than my share ?
