Inspired by their cult-fave range of La Petite Robe Noire fragrances, Guerlain created La Petite Robe Noire Deliciously Shiny Lip Colour, lightly scented lipsticks that have buildable colour — and are simply too adorable to keep stored in your makeup bag. I was kindly sent four shades to try and honestly, I do believe I may now have a slight addiction to each and every one.
Somehow, I had a feeling that would happen …
Housed in black tubes with clear outer caps that bear the iconic “upside-down heart” of the La Petite Robe Noire range of fragrances, these lip shades have a lightweight and glossy texture with colour that is buildable — but only to a certain degree and also which is also dependant on the hue selected. This feat is accomplished by the inclusion of a cocktail of fine oils and “POP” pigments coated in a specific shine-boosting resin that not only keeps lips looking luminous, but also feeling thoroughly moisturized throughout the wearing.
001 My First Lipstick (CAN $37.00) | A barely there baby pink hue with very delicate shimmer for added depth. Also the the most goofproof shade to apply short of a balm, but so much prettier.
002 Pink Tie (CAN $37.00) | A fresh cool-toned pink that not only provides a vibrant, albeit still very wearable pop of colour, and which also leaves a light rose stain behind (just add a swipe of balm over that and you’ve got a whole new shade to play with).
003 Red Heels (CAN $37.00) | Seriously, this is probably the easiest red shade I have in my beauty arsenal and can even apply without needing either a lip liner or a mirror. Bonus points scored for the juicy look it gives lips.

007 Black Perfecto (CAN $37.00) | The almost-scary blackened plum hue seen in the tube is actually more of a sheer grape with exceptionally fine shimmer thrown in for added appeal. Initially there is some settling into lip lines (exhibit A, below. Sigh) but almost like magic, Perfecto seems to develop as it goes and winds up looking absolutely smooth, leaving behind a really sexy stain once the gloss has dimmed (sort of like you’ve been indulging in a grape popsicle type of stain).
Apart from the texture and feel, there’s also something fun & whimsical about the La Petite Robe Noire Deliciously Shiny Lip Colours – making them appeal to a broad range of ages across the board. The price point leans on the steeper end of the scale, but that’s pretty much expected when you’re dealing with a luxury brand. Quality-wise, each shade feels absolutely wonderful and does not dry out the lips whatsoever and I absolutely love the added perk of the stain they leave behind. The final bonus: the packaging — doesn’t get more gorgeous than this.
