Every so often, a deal comes along in the beauty world, that’s just too good to pass up…like this fabulous beauty bag from upscale Canadian department store, Holt Renfrew. I scored this lovely purely by chance; last week while shopping for a new mascara (Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Lash Stretching Mascara – review forthcoming), Mary, my incredibly helpful sales agent at that counter, presented me with the option of this beauty bag. For CAD $25.00, you may purchase the Holt Renfrew ‘Paramount Beauty Bag’, which also includes 2 smaller pouches, 2 large sample sized beauty products, a Shu Uemura mini eyelash curler, and a CAD $10.00 gift voucher that can be applied towards your next beauty purchase. Measuring 11″ wide x 6.5″ high x 4.5″ deep, this lustrous black vinyl bag is extra large and roomy, with a plasticized inner liner bearing Holt’s iconic maroon hue & logo.
The back of the bag has a small separate zippered compartment, convenient for placing quick-access items, such as a lipstick, liner, or mirror.
I love how the bottom of the bag bears four small metal feet, extra protection for your bag from any wet surfaces.

This inner narrow mesh pouch, which measures 9.5″ long x 3.5″ high x 1″ deep, can be easily detached by means of three embedded snaps.
Along with the mesh pouch, the beauty bag also comes with this smaller vinyl bag, measuring 9″ wide x 5″ high x 2″ deep, and is embossed all over with the Holt Renfrew name. The liner is similar to that of the larger bag, with the exception that it is nylon fabric, and not plasticized. As it is of a smaller, more portable size, this bag is ideal for holding your going out or touch-up essentials and can easily fit in most purses (except tiny evening bags!).
In the above photo, you can see how much smaller the inner vinyl pouch is, compared to the beauty bag. Both these bags, come equipped with sturdy & hefty 2″ zipper pulls, while the mesh pouch has a smaller 1″ zipper pull…no fumbling to open any of the bags, thank you!
The three beauty items included, consist of a large sized sample of Sisley’s ‘Hydra-Global Intense Anti-Aging Hydration’ (0.35 oz/10 g/10 ml), a moisturizer made with plant extracts, essential oils and malachite extract, reputed to aid in keeping your skin exceptionally hydrated, Laura Mercier’s ‘Foundation Primer’ (o.5 fl.oz/14.7 ml), which can be applied either under or over your foundation, and Shu Uemura’s ‘mini eyelash curler’ (and one replacement pad), the baby sister to the brand’s cult favourite full-sized eyelash curler, and absolutely perfect for reaching those finer and smaller inner lashes, or for touch ups to the outer corner lashes.

This view of the opened empty beauty bag, shows exactly how roomy it truly is. The best part of this plasticized liner is how easy it is to clean up any spills and other messes, making it exceptionally hygienic, as well as pretty!

Final thoughts: What I love best about this bag, is….everything! Its versatility is quite evident, from being able to hold a multitude of your personal beauty items, to its size lending itself well for travelling, to the sanitary interior… and then there’s the bonus smaller bags included, as well as the icing on the cake being the trial sized beauty products and gift voucher. According to Holt’s, the approximate retail value of the bag and included items, is CAD $129.50 so consider the $25.00 investment a veritable steal! As this will be available only until December 31, 2011 (or while quantities last), this beauty bag would also make an awesome Christmas gift for any “beaut-istas” on your list!
