KORRES Mango Butter Lipstick #38 Cinnamon aka: Naked Brown

I don’t know about you, but reading the words “mango butter”, makes me kind of hungry; when those same two words are applied to lipstick, however, it serves to make me think of tropical, creamy lusciousness – bullet form, in this case.

Rich in may precious nutrients and able to melt at body temperature, mango butter is the prized ingredient behind KORRES’ line of lipsticks, as it not only helps to keep lips smooth and hydrated, but adds a lovely shine as well.

Mango Butter Lipstick in #38 Cinnamon – (CAD $23.50 3.5 g/0.12 oz) The deep bronze-coloured outer tube which feels slightly cool to the touch, has decent weight behind it, being neither too light (as in drugstore brands), but not as heavy as some of the higher-end brands, and closes with a satisfying “click”. This shade is a neutral-leaning nude/rosy/brown hue, which can appear both warm and cool, depending on the underlying pigmentation of one’s lips, as well as the lighting. On me, it definitely leans more warm, but still strays far from looking too tan. I detected a slight waxy smell to the lipstick, although it seemed to disappear the moment it was applied. The slight shimmer visible on the surface does not extend to the way it appears when worn, but serves to add a nice multi-dimensional depth of colour, with pretty good coverage for a shade this neutral, along with a wonderful shine at the finish.

For a product as emollient as this, I was surprised that it actually lasted as long as it did, which was a solid 3 hours before it began fading – I expected it to disappear sooner – and the best part, was how soft my lips were left feeling.

*The sample I was sent, clearly lists this lipstick as #38 Cinnamon/Canelle but a quick search on Sephora’s site shows this same number as ‘Naked Brown’ – not sure which one is accurate or why the the differing names, but the colour remains the same.

Final thoughts: As with my earlier reviews on the Compact Powder (here) and the Zea Mays Blush (here), I am once more pleased with how well this KORRES Mango Butter Lipstick performed. From my research, it appears that the KORRES Colour shades available in North America, seem to be less in number than what’s listed on their website, as is the case with the lipstick line – with 9 colours appearing on the brand’s site, versus the 6 available through Sephora (and at last check, this shade is also apparently sold out there – boo!) … something to note. If you suffer from dry lips, or want to try a product that offers significant nourishing benefits all the while delivering on colour and shine, do give these KORRES Mango Butter Lipsticks a try.
