We all know that milk is good for your bones, teeth, nails … and skin. Yes, your skin – ALL OF IT. Cleopatra reputedly bathed in the stuff, which was said to be her secret to that alluring & youthful glow. Now Korres, Greece’s first homeopathic pharmacy, harnesses all the beneficial ingredients of this miracle ingredient in their ‘Milk Proteins Foaming Cream Cleanser’, a soothing yet efficient product that even the lactose intolerant can use!
According to the company:
KEY FEATURES & BENEFITS
It removes everyday impurities and make-up from face and eyes without stripping the skin. The combination of natural cleansing agents and emulsifiers ensures a very mild formula, fully compatible with the eyes and skin.
KEY INGREDIENTS
Milk proteins, rich in lactose and essential aminoacids, offer nourishing properties and form a hydrating film on the skin by bonding with water molecules. A complex of vegetable proteins from Amaranth and Rice soothes and refreshes the skin.
MY FINDINGS: I’m a huge fan of how well protected the ingredients of all Korres products are; the inner seal foil on this tube of cleanser guarantees that no contamination has occurred prior to first use. Secondly, I think that a flip-top cap is essential for an item such as this, making it easy to use one-handed and ensures no fumbling around for a loose cap. The squeeze tube itself is of a malleable plastic (all recycled materials), and the generous amount (150 ml/5.07 fl.oz) means you’ll have plenty of product for at least a couple of months of continued use.

The scent reminded me of babies, but in the best ‘fuzzy’ sort of way; there’s a warm vanilla-y/buttery natural fragrance that almost makes you want to taste it, with a silky, rather slippery feel to the emollient cream itself. Applied to your dampened skin, it turns into a smooth and light foamy lather that leaves your skin soft and incredibly clean-feeling when rinsed off – without that dreaded drum-tight skin sensation that many other cleanser leave behind. BONUS: Paraben free.

Final thoughts: My skin really enjoyed this cleanser; I know this from the almost luminous glow I noticed after about 2 weeks of regular use. My daughter, on the other hand, who is prone to occasional breakouts, did not fare so well when she used this cleanser and felt like it aggravated her skin to some degree – a possible side effect of the lactic acid proteins, perhaps. Based on how well my skin (which is combination type: oily in the T-zone, normal everywhere else) responded to this cleanser, it’s definitely something I would recommend, as I also found that it worked effectively with the rest of my skin care regimen. As that famous slogan says, “Got Milk?” (I got mine!)
Also excellent for those with ultra-sensitive skin, the ‘Milk Proteins Foaming Cream Cleanser’ retails for CDN $26.00. Korres products are available through their website, Sephora and select Pharmaprix/Shopper’s DrugMart stores (Canada).
