L’Occitane en Provence’s ‘Almond Shower Scrub’ will become your body’s best friend; unlike many other shower scrubs that may use synthetics and sometimes irritating chemicals to cleanse the skin – all the while stripping it of precious moisture and natural oils, this scrub works to not only gently exfoliate surface dead skin cells to reveal softly radiant skin underneath, but does a fine job of adding back moisture by the inclusion of natural almond oil in its formula. According to the company:

“Enriched with almond oil and crushed shells, the foaming Almond Shower Scrub melts into the skin, cleanses softly and exfoliates to remove impurities and dead cells. Skin is soft, smooth and ready to absorb all the benefits of your body creams. This scrub leaves behind the fresh and delicate fragrance of the almond tree flowers”

With a convenient twist open & close cap (no fumbling with loose caps in the shower, thank you very much!), I was pleased to note that the texture of the ‘Almond Shower Scrub’, considering its very nature, was actually quite smooth feeling and not rough or grainy. The included almond shell powder, is quite fine and provides a gentle and rather non-abrasive exfoliating sensation and it also lathered up surprisingly well. The exceptionally pleasant fragrance reminded me of springtime, redolent with the scent of fresh green and white new growth – beautifully invigorating, in fact!

Using a nylon bath sponge/pouf for some extra massage power, one generous squirt was more than enough to do the job; I was also even able to use this scrub to shave – it’s that smooth! Upon rinsing and towelling off, I was left impressed with how silky and buttery soft my skin felt, with no residual tight feeling – almost not even needing to be followed up with moisturizer … not that I’d ever skip that part!

Final thoughts: I am a firm believer in pampering and taking care of one’s skin, and the first step begins with proper exfoliation, ensuring your body is not only thoroughly cleansed, but at its optimum best to better benefit from any subsequent bodycare products that follow. That being said, I am so NOT a fan of products that are chock-full of synthetics and manufactured fragrances; that somehow seems counterintuitive and the exact opposite of what one should be doing. L’Occitane en Provence’s ‘Almond Shower Scrub’ marries both worlds with expert ease: nature & nurture, and the fact that the company sources out organic ingredients for their products, in this case the well-documented anti-oxidant properties of almonds – turns a routine chore into an almost hedonistic experience!
