Having pioneered what I like to refer to as the entire “argan oil movement” for hair, cult-fave brand Moroccanoil® is on the verge of doing the same for our bodies, with the introduction of their new Body range of products. Moisturizing – whether it’s my hair, face, or body – is something of an obsession with me, and from the very first time I inhaled that now famous Moroccanoil® scent, I was addicted and wanted to surround myself with it, which I now happily can thank to these two luscious products.

Now, all Moroccanoil® needs to to, is to create a matching perfume …

Body Buff (CAD $42.00/180 ml) – a citrus scented and grainy looking total body exfoliant made with dried orange peel and infused with the brand’s star ingredient, Argan oil. The orange acrylic jar has a nice heft & weight to it, while the wide lid is easy enough to manipulate. Included in the box is a plastic inner lid you can use to further protect the contents, especially once the foil seal has been removed. According to the company:

“… an innovative gel formula consisting of restorative argan and essential oils rich with dried orange peel. Orange peel, a natural exfoliant, polishes away dead skin cells to deliver a new level of smoothness while grape seed oil, a natural astringent, clarifies and tones skin and pores. A unique blend of vitamins and oils further imparts intense moisture for skin that is luminously revived”

Key ingredients:

Argan Oil – extremely rich in natural tocopherols (Vitamin E), essential fatty acids and anti-oxidants, this 100% natural oil helps to hydrate and nourish the skin improving its texture and tone
Orange Peel – a natural exfoliator that gently buffs away dead skin
Sweet Almond Oil, Safflower Oil and Sesame Oil – a unique blend of intensely hydrating oils that nourish the skin and leave behind a unique softness and smoothness
Avocado Oil and Vitamin E – powerful anti-oxidants that help build up the skin’s natural defence and moisture repair
Grape Seed Oil – a natural astringent that is also rich in vitamins and essential fatty acids which help nourish skin and replenish moisture. Helps to close the pores for a flawless finish

My experience: I opted to try the Body Buff on dry skin for optimum results, and to that end, I began by applying it while standing in the tub – in case of any product fallout. The first thing you notice, is the totally yummy citrus scent which is tempered by the softer tones of almond oil. Due to the wide mouth on the jar, scooping it up with the fingers is easy enough, and starting from the bottom (feet) up, I applied enough to cover my entire body (save the face, of course) and then proceeded to rub it in using circular motions to help stimulate exfoliation as well as blood flow. Even while rinsing off the Body Buff, I was surprised to feel how soft and almost slick my skin felt under the water; once I finished and towel dried, I could not get over the incredible velvety touch of my skin – such smoothness and suppleness, without any greasy feel at all.

Body Soufflé (CAD $52.00/190 ml) – an ultra creamy total body moisturizer, in a whipped format that is almost a hybrid milk/mousse/butter in texture. The sky blue acrylic jar bears the same heft & feel as the Body Buff, and comes with a protective inner plastic cap as well. Bearing a light and almost cool to the touch feel, redolent with Moroccanoil’s signature scent. According to the company:

“… instantly drenches and penetrates skin with intense hydration, leaving behind renewed softness, smoothness and resilience. The indulgent formula is rich with reparative argan oil, shea butter and aloe vera that help to stimulate skin’s cellular renewal, and work to improve skin’s natural barrier functions, health and vitality”

My experience: Upon opening the jar, I was initially held captive by the evocative scent. Yes, I actually was. Applying this product is an indulgent pleasure, as it glides easily along the skin and is absorbed relatively quick, leaving nothing but incredibly soft skin and that totally amazing fragrance behind – no greasy feel or film. Used in conjunction with the Body Buff, as I prefer to do, results in almost unbelievably smooth skin – something that needs to be experienced first hand, let me tell you.

Last word: I am not surprised at all, in the quality and presentation of these new Body products from Moroccanoil®, mainly because everything I’ve seen and tried from this brand thus far, has more than exceeded my expectations and rather high standards (beauty snob). To be fair, it’s what’s on the inside that counts, and I am absolutely IN LOVE with not only how the Body Buff and Body Soufflé smell, but how amazing my skin has been feeling as a result. That the packaging is simple and gorgeous, is just a bonus – in my book (although I am a total sucker for things like this, I have to admit). Bottom line: if you’re a fan of Moroccanoil® products, you NEED to try these.
