It may sound like an oxymoron; how can the words “oil” and “dry” be used in the same sentence? And yet, that’s exactly what you get with Moroccanoil’s new Dry Body Oil – with its glistening & lightweight texture, designed to thoroughly moisturize your skin while leaving a luminous glow behind … and no oily residue.

Dry Body Oil (CAN $38.00/ 100 ml) – housed in a glass bottle with a nice weight to it, this pale amber-coloured oil is dispensed as a fine mist through the sprayer nozzle. Lightly fragranced with the signature Moroccanoil® scent, the best time to use this oil is immediately after showering, when your skin is still damp and best equipped to absorb all its beneficial properties. Some of the key ingredients include:

Argan Oil – extremely rich in natural tocopherols (Vitamin E), essential fatty acids and anti-oxidants, helping to hydrate and nourish the skin, improving its texture and tone

Olive Oil – contains a high level of healthy monounsaturated fatty acids and antioxidant Vitamin E that moisturizes, protects and nourishes – very beneficial for dry or damaged skin

My findings: upon first spraying this oil on my skin, I was unsure whether it would get fully absorbed or not, as it did appear quite intense (fig. 1). After rubbing it in, I could still see a healthy “sheen” (fig. 2), but it was only about 5 minutes later that it felt fully absorbed into my skin (fig. 3). The best part? I could not believe how soft, silky and supple my skin felt (and let’s not forget that delicious Morroccanoil® scent), an effect that lasted almost the entire day.

I live in a climate that can be positively nasty; Summers are insanely humid and Winters brutally cold – all of which can play some major havoc with one’s skin. During this past Summer, using this oil not only left my skin feeling thoroughly quenched, but also served to give my tanned limbs a beautiful glow. Now that the weather’s started cooling down (actually, it’s more like positively frigid), this Dry Body Oil will not only give me back the moisture stolen thanks to needing to turn the heating on, but will have another positive effect: take me back to Summer’s lazy heat (I can dream, right?).
