My Top 6 Dior Bronzers

By popular request, I’ve rounded up my favourite Dior bronzers to show you, and while I tried to keep it at 5 (because I find that number somehow more “right” – don’t ask why), in reality these 6 represent the ones I reach for the most. The best part of wearing bronzer? Recreating summer’s warmth on your face … something I plan on doing quite a bit of, now that winter is around the corner.

Dior is one of 3 brands I most often turn to where bronzers are concerned — the other 2 being CHANEL and Guerlain. All three luxury houses create truly exceptional products, and the one I’ll reach for will really depend on my mood at the time. While several of the bronzers in today’s post are no longer available, I’m hoping they will serve as inspiration and have you look at products you currently have with new eyes.

Diorskin Nude Glow Healthy Glow Summer Powder 002 Sunset | Launched in 2011, this was one piece I couldn’t pass up. The compact opens up to reveal Dior’s iconic “cannage” (caning) pattern in 3 complimentary warm shades: taupe, deep tan, and fresh peach. Meant to be swirled together for the best effect, the resulting caramel hue gives my complexion a realistic sun-kissed colour. Pigmentation is medium — neither too light nor saturated, while the texture is finely milled and has a very subtle shimmer to provide a soft radiance.

Diorskin Nude Air Glow Powder 001 | Launched in 2016, there are actually 4 colours to this bronzer: tan (the only matte), soft apricot (the D & U letters), champagne (the N & E letters), and beige. There are many options available with this, and depending on which quadrant I focus my brush on, it will determine how light or deep a result I’ll get. The texture is very fine and has the lightest pigmentation of the 6 shown here, although I can still build up the colour if needed. The subtle shimmer in the formula not only adds a nice glow, but keeps the shade from appearing flat and 1-dimentional when applied.

Dior Backstage Contour Palette 001 Universal* | Launched in 2018 (originally reviewed here), the Backstage series was born from a need to service the brand’s runway shows, and has since gone on to spawn some truly amazing products in the range. Technically a “contour” palette, this includes: 2 highlighters (one light, the other deep) and 2 contour shades (again, one light with the other deep). Apart from wearing them along the face, these shades are also versatile enough to be worn on eyes (which is something I often do with bronzers). Each pan is large enough that it can be used individually, or I can customize the colour I get by swirling through 2 or more hues. The texture is quite refined and has that Dior secret shimmer, providing a beautiful radiance to skin. The shades lean slightly cooler overall but can definitely be made to work on a broad range of skin tones.

Diorskin Mineral Nude Bronzer Color Games* | Launched in 2020 (originally reviewed here) there are 2 shades to this bronzer: taupe brown (the letters) & soft tan. Meant to be swirled together, I’m able to customize the colour I get depending on how much of either shade I’ll pick up on my brush. Beautifully pigmented and with an ultra fine texture, this bronzer can also be layered up for a deeper intensity. I love how this contains both cool & warm tones and therefore suitable to a wide range of skin tones.

Dior Backstage Powder-No-Powder 4N* | Launched in 2021 (originally reviewed here) and available in several shades, this product can be used on both face and body. Technically this is more of a “setting powder” but I’ve been alternating between this shade and 5N to wear as bronzers. The texture is unbelievably fine;gossamer light and melting into the skin, as opposed to just sitting at surface level. This taupe/tan shade also works in a contour capacity and leaves behind a subtle bronzed effect, but it can certainly be layered up if needed.

Dior Backstage Powder-No-Powder 5N* | Launched in 2021 (originally reviewed here), I initially felt that this shade would be much too dark for me to wear — especially in a setting powder capacity for which it’s meant, but as a bronzer it looks absolutely amazing. This warm camel hue can also be dialled up for more depth, while the whisper light texture makes it goof-proof to apply aka: it’s difficult to overdo and won’t leave you looking like an oompa-loompa.

Even though these are my top 6 bronzers and the ones I’ve reached for the most from my Dior stash, in preparing this post I felt like I was rediscovering several of them — and I like that about these types of posts. It’s easy to get caught up in all the “latest” business, but in the end, coming back to old favourites is not only comforting, but makes you appreciate the gems you already have … not to mention saving you major $$$ in the process.
