Picture Polish – Atomic by Samarium’s Swatches

Today I have for you another piCture pOlish collaboration shade, ‘Atomic’ – created by Sarah of Samarium’s Swatches, who was inspired by her love of the silvery-white colour of the samarium element. I confess to not knowing that such an element even existed, but after seeing photos of it, I can fully understand the appeal; it’s almost magical, and it looks like every nuance was perfectly captured in this shade.

All swatches are with base and top coats.

Atomic (CAD $14.50 11ml) – a metallic silvery/white hue that bears a soft grey-pink duo chrome flash in some lights, and that is filled with ultra fine & scattered prismatic shimmer. The excellent density to this formula provides a smooth application that is brush stroke-free, with good opacity at two coats (my personal preference) and leaves behind a shiny, although not glossy, finish. Coats applied: 3 (thin)

Note: Trying to photograph every holographic flash of this beauty proved quite elusive – this is one of those shades that is even more impressive when seen in person.

Final thoughts: I was concerned that this shade would turn out to be another version of frosted white, but I’m happy to say that I couldn’t be more wrong. Although I only own about a handful of polishes in this colour family, none of them bear the complexities that go into ‘Atomic’, which truly elevates it to the unique in this range, with the holographic particles lending it a fun & youthful air, while the gray/pink flashes add a dash of sophistication. Original, slyly explosive and I can even see this as being the perfect shade for an edgy bride – well worth picking up, especially if you’re a fan of whites.
