Hailing from Australia, piCture pOlish is a brand that has quickly risen through the ranks in the world of nail varnish, garnering a reputation for creating some truly original and spectacular shades. ‘Paradise’ is one of their collaboration hues, created by Liz of Liquid Jelly, who was inspired by the exotic colours found on the bird of paradise – teal, iridescence, and hints of purple … and some glitter thrown in for a little something extra.
All swatches are with base coat, 1 coat of ‘Paradise’ over 2 coats of OPI’s ‘Vant To Bite My Neck?’ (reviewed here), and Seche Vite top coat.

Paradise by Liquid Jelly – (CAD $14.50/11 ml) A complex and incredibly stunning teal shimmer base, interspersed with finely ground purple glitter and larger violet hexagonal glitter pieces, which also give this shade a sly duo chrome flash seen in some light – all this, in a medium density formula. The short handled rounded & densely packed brush offers good flexibility for an easy application, and while you can certainly wear this shade on its own, I found it simpler to layer just one coat of Paradise over a darker mono base colour – such as the deep purple I chose for the swatches – to provide the deepest impact. This iridescent peacock hue bears a glistening & slightly gritty look at the finish and applying a layer of a thicker top coat (such as Seche Vite) eliminates any rough texture, while also serving to emphasize every brilliant aspect of this shade.

Final thoughts: To say that I am at a loss for words to accurately convey every nuance that is ‘Paradise’, would be an understatement. It’s like owning 5 polishes in one bottle, with every angle showing you a different side – teal, purple, green, slate, and glitter reflects. Application was ridiculously easy, and when placed over a base shade, you don’t need more than 1 coat for full coverage. A totally unique colour in my collection, this shade is as close to paradise as lacquer can get, and so worth owning.
