Remembrance Day … Lest We Forget

Today, on November the 11th, I’d like to take a moment and show my respect and honour for all those who fought and sacrificed their lives so that we may live in peace and enjoy all the freedoms we presently have.

Every now and then, it occurs to me that the reason I will never have to know war, tyranny, or oppression, is because of all these fallen heroes and their love of this country, and so today – and every day – I wish to commemorate and thank them all, and say that I will never forget.

In Flanders Field

On May 3, 1915 during the first world war, Canadian physician and Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae was inspired to to write his now iconic poem, “In Flanders Field” after having attended the burial of fellow soldier, Alexis Helmer. As a result of this work, the poppies mentioned in the poem have become immortalized as the symbol for all who fought and died.
