I’m fairly new to the whole indie polish phenomenon happening in the world of nail lacquer, but I have long admired several brands that I’ve come across – Sea Lore Polish (a brilliant twist on founder Jamie Lohr’s name — “Lohr/Lore”) is definitely one of those brands. Being a fan of anything oceanic, I couldn’t help but be completely drawn to this aquatically-themed ‘Spring Seas Collection’ … calls to the beach-lover in me. The five shades of this grouping are a wonderful representation of what this brand is all about, plus it’s the perfect way to herald Sea Lore’s 1st birthday!
Note that while these lacquers can all be layered for more depth, I opted to show them in their “natural” state, in order to give you the truest indication of what they’re all about.

Popping Parrotfish – a milky baby blue/mint base bearing an ultra-fine silvery blue shimmer throughout, filled with hexagonal and square candy-coloured glitter in fine, small & medium sizes – as well as some metallic pieces thrown in for even more visual interest. The formula bears an easy flow and provides good coverage/opacity by the second layer, and no glitter placement is required at all. Ending with a surprisingly glossy finish, the final look is so unique – as though the glitter is “sandwiched” between the layers of colour. Coats applied: 3 thin, plus top coat

Jumping Jellyfish – a sheer-leaning shimmery greyed out royal blue base loaded with metallic blue round & hexagonal glitter in a range of sizes — from ultra-fine all the way to medium-large. This shade can definitely work layered for more tonal impact, but I love its aquatic tranlucency when worn on its own. Bearing an excellent flow with plenty of glitter per brush stroke (no extra placement needed), there’s a natural high shine left behind at the finish. Bonus: no staining upon removal. Coats applied: 3 thin, plus top coat

Leaping Lyretail – a sheer-esque strawberry red base hue with darker pink undertones, loaded with matte gold hexagonal glitter, matte silver square glitter, metallic magenta round glitter as well as more the same varieties in micro glitter form scattered throughout. Jelly-like in tone (and appearance), this shade can definitely be layered for more depth and to bring out each individual form, but I prefer it undiluted and with this slightly diffused look. Note: barest hint of staining may be possible – apply a base coat prior. Coats applied: 3 thin, plus top coat

Springing Seahorse – a clear base bearing a lavender/pink shimmer that colour-shifts slightly, brimming with two-tone purple metallic glitter in a range of shapes and sizes, as well as fine satin silver square glitter pieces throughout. The formula here was a touch thicker than the rest, but still applied with relative ease, while no glitter placement required for coverage along the nail – from the group, this is the only shade I would prefer layered (applied solo in these swatches). Coats applied: 3 thin, plus top coat

Dancing Discus – a delicate and sheer-leaning pearly base hue filled with fine gold hexagonal glitter and larger prismatic mylar square glitter pieces in a formula with an amazing flow. Versatile enough to be layered over any other solid shade for more drama, I absolutely love the understated beauty of it worn alone. A totally unique combination of glitter and colour-shifting effect which gives off an almost unearthly luminous glow – gorgeous! Coats applied: 3 thin, plus top coat

Last word: I’ve stated often enough throughout my many posts, that I am a “colour purist” – which simply means that I usually prefer my nail lacquer to come in a solid crème format, although the lure of glitter is undeniable. It might be the whole age-appropriate thing or possibly the extra effort required to remove glitter polishes which usually keep me away, but something about this Spring Seas Collection makes me want to play. My favourites are hands down Popping Parrotfish and Dancing Discus, but Jumping Jellyfish “blew” (blew/blue … get it? Sorry!) me away.
This collection is available in in both 7.5 ml and 15 ml sizes ($5.50 and $10.00 respectively) and can be purchase through the brand’s website.
