NARS · Loaded Eyeshadow Palette

NARS has been on quite the roll lately, creating some of the best palettes we’ve seen in a while; case in point are the recent Banc de Sable Highlighting Palette and the Unfiltered Blush Palettes. And as if those weren’t enough, get ready for the Loaded Eyeshadow Palette: a selection of 12 never-before-seen shades from this brand that will in all likelihood blow you away. At least, that’s what it did to me, and one might say that I’ve seen more than my fair share of beauty.

Loaded Eyeshadow Palette, limited edition (CAN $74.00) | Housed in a slender-ish compact with a bronze mirrored surface (which is just so pretty & Summery but Oy! the fingerprints…), it holds 12 brand new shades from this brand, in a mix of finishes that include matte, satin, shimmer, and even a sparkle thrown in. The texture on all is UN-frickin-BELIEVABLE; smooth, buttery, pigmented, and just so easy to blend. While it’s definitely more warm-leaning overall, there are still enough shades as to suit those with cooler complexions; it all boils down to the colour combinations used and application method. Personally, this has some of the best neutral mattes I’ve seen of late and I can’t even begin to say how happy I am with the more rust/coppery inclusions — just perfect for the warmer season (and green-eyed girls, like me). In case you’re wondering, staying power (over primer) is stellar, staying fade-free until removed.

  • Newbury Street – white gold (shimmer)
  • Windsor – warm beige (matte)
  • Privilege – gold (metallic)
  • Dover – neutral brown (matte)
  • Foix – peach (matte)
  • Castille – umber brown (matte)
  • Alnwick – copper (shimmer)
  • Beaumarais – chocolate brown (shimmer)
  • Splendor – pewter (sparkle)
  • Versailles – bronze (shimmer)
  • Montaillou – dark brown (matte)
  • Reale – black (satin)

I honestly can’t extoll the virtues of this palette enough and if you’re looking for that perfect grouping of warm-leaning shades, then look no further: Loaded Eyeshadow Palette has your back. I had hoped that the payoff would deliver, and boy did it ever…and then some. Without a doubt, there is enough of a shade range and selection of textures that will enable you to create a plethora (I have been wanting to use this word and the context just fit) of looks, from day to evening, casual to ooh-la-la — and portable enough that you don’t need to cart along 10 bajillion individual shades. Or maybe that’s just me, but you know what I mean. Verdict: Get It.

∗EDIT: The palette is already showing as available on The Bay’s website, link is included
